I know someone diagnosed with neurodermatitis and I have read a little
on the subject. If you could relate me to a site or give me some
information on the subject it would be great. Is there any proven
efficient treatment other than Over-the-counter creams and
corticosteroid topic therapy? If you have any statistics on the
subject, please send them to me. I am very interested on the subject.
Thanks!

I'm from Romania and my friend is from the sothern part of Romania. I
don't know what you would find significant about this location but I
can tell you that it's a hill region with a big river passing near the
town where she lives and there's a continental temperate climate(at
least in theory, but I think it's begining to look like tropical). I
you need any more info on the subject please let me know and I will
tell what you need to know. I am curoius why do you need the
geographic informations though; are they relevant to the illness or
for the differential diagnosis of the disease?

I was going to refer you to a specialist in the New York region.

Based on your description, I am not clear about the facts of the neuro-
dermatitis.
Are there oral/systemic medications related, as a cause?
Is it stress-related?

I will recommend, for toical treatment, a mild soap such as Basis for
Sensitive Skin and a topical moisturizer with NO fragrance and the
inclusion of lactic acid, such as U-Lactin, Amlactin, or another
strong formulation.

Thanks for your information. I really don't know if it's sress
related. This is what happened: the woman spilled some boilling water
on the dorsal side of her foot. After tahat she went to work wearing a
pair of sandals, that by the time she got back home from work managed
to produce an open wound. She treated herself with some topic over-the-
counter therapy(some creams that stimulated the epithelium growth
based on plants) but with no success. In fact her state got worse and
the lesion started to grow larger and larger  by the day. After a
while she stopped applying the cream and soon after the lesion healed
and disappeared leaving nothing but some thicker skin and a cafe au
lait pigmentation. A few months passed and the lesion reappeared
without being generated by some kind of trauma. She went to a
dermatologist who told her it was neurodermatitis and that it's stress
related(the woman has some problems in her family). Now she received a
treatment that includes gluconic calcium, vitamin D, some NSAI and
some anxiolithics. She feels better after having taken a few days of
this treatment but I was interested in the causes of neurodermatitis
and if somebody knew an efficient treatment because she was very
reluctant on taking this medication and I was too after I heard what
she was suppose to take. Please tell me what you think about this
treatment. Oh, and by the way, the doctor told her that if she doesn't
elliminate stress from her life the lesions would reappear.
