Hi all,
For over a year now, on and off, I've experienced neck pain when
swallowing. The pain is on the left side of my neck, about 3 inches
above my collar bone. It's not a stabbing pain, but it is
uncomfortable, and I really expected it to have waned by now.
I saw a doctor about it when I first noticed it and he thought nothing
of it, other than noticing that the tonsil on the same side looked
inflamed.
Does anyone here have any clues as to what this might be?
I'm holding off on seeing a doctor in the meantime as I'm mid-way
through a 3-month health insurance stand down in a new job, but in the
meantime I've read about all sorts of horrible possibilities when
googling.
Thanks,
Paul

Without examining you and seeing the results of appropriate tests, we can't
tell. You're doctor can.
You're right: There are all sorts of possibilities that bad and that are
good. See your doctor. Money is less important than health.

Dear paul
There is more to it than jumping to a conclusion of what could be the
possible cause
In my opinion I feel it would be good if you first answer the
following questions:
How old are you?
Do you smoke?
Have you been treated before with simillar problem?
Is it giving you any fever?
Am of the opinion that if this is tonsilitis then is long overdue
because it is uncommon to have tosilitis with such a long period of
time
