Hi, there!

I know it's not possible to give sound medical advice over the
internet, but I have a really close friend who I'm pretty sure has
been given corticosteroids for the last 19 years.  He had a liver
transplant when he was 1 year old and is now almost 20.  He doesn't
know exactly what his prescription is, but said it's something like
"Prednisone" and is still taking this.

My question is:  can't this lead to symptomatic Cushings?  Are people
supposed to take this stuff for this length of time, or is it possible
this has gone unchecked?  He's not currently seeing a specialist (and
may not have the financial means) so I would like to know if this is a
matter of concern.

Thank you for your time!

If he doesn't take the steriods, he will reject his liver. Trust me, having
a working liver is important. Otherwise, they wouldn't have bother to open
him 19 years ago.

I am sure his doctors are checking for problems from Cushings.
