Howard,
You know much more than I know about anatomy. Is it possible that some of
the blood vessels or nerves related to penis were damaged by the surgery
that was done related to the hernias?

No.
But we're talking about hernias causing ED, not their repair. The OP's
question is whether or not getting his hernias fixed will reverse his ED.

Excellent question. However, the OP has not had the surgery yet.
So the blood vessels and nerves couldn't have been damaged by the surgery.

Thanks for the responses. I will follow up with another visit to my
physician. The best way I can describe the whole thing is that if I
were a five speed, I can't always get past fourth gear. Thankfully, I
do still have the ability to function, it's just weaker than I feel it
should be. My wife mentioned that I should have also written that I am
taking amox-clav (augmentin) and nicomide tablets, both for acne
treatment.
