I was diagnosed with chronic cholecystitis. No stones were found. But the
gallbladder is increased in size and only 15% of it functions. My doctor
recommends the surgery. But from what I am reading the surgery is usually
recommended when stones are found. I was wondering if I have an alternative
to surgery that would remove the inflammation of my gallbladder. Is there
anything like this? What treatment is available for this situation?
Thanks,

Surgery is recommended when the gallbladder doesn't function properly or is
inflamed. Stones are only one cause of such malfunction. There's no
alternative to surgery for acalculous cholecystitis or biliary dyskinesia.
