I haven't been able to shake this cough; and was worried when I started
running a fever.

Guess what though? It's not Lupus raising its ugly head; it's pneumonia!

(sigh)

Are you taking antibiotics now?  I hope you feel better very soon.

Hugs,

Wes

Thanks, Wes. I was given some heavy-duty antibiotics, yeah.

I'm off for another  blood test, my platelets were a mysterious 49...

Grace, it IS lupus raising its ugly head; pro'ly lupus pneumonitis. Have had
it several times. Not pretty; I'm praying for you.

Candi
Grace Casselman - 22 Mar 2004 23:22 GMT
Hi Candi:

Hmm. I suppose! But I'm holding to the hope of being done with Lupus as long as
I can. Certainly the chemo/stem cell transplant leaves me vulnerable to
infection... it started with a bad cold.

Thanks for your prayers,

Grace.

Hey Grace
I have lupus disease. I am 14 now and was diagnosed at the age of 12. Jesus
its awful! I had chemo lost a good amount of my hair. It is very thin but
when i dry it it all poofs out and its really curly. I was never curly before.
I was also on a 60mg of steriods of 3 months straight before my chemo ( with
an extra 1000mg of intravinas steriods ). The worst thing now is the scaring
on my legs. Its is all down then even on my ankles. It really gets to me when
the other girls can all wear mini skirts and i have to wear  pants all the
time. When im on holiday though i wear what ever i like and try not to let
the staring get to me. And i cant even go in the sun. I was never a sun
bather anyway. Haha. I am back into hospital tomorrow for the lupus has
spread to my brain. Wow this is long haha. It is in my lungs, heart, skin,
kidneys.brain, blood, eyes, mouth, everywhere really. And i get students coming
to have a look at me constantly because they think i am a walking miracle haa.
Which isn't to bad. But anyway good look with everything. Kat xx

Thanks Bev;

I was feverish and chilled again; then I coughed so much I threw up...sigh.
This is not helping with the gaining weight, exercising I need to do.

However.....my hair has started to grow....

Be well,

Grace.

I haven't posted in awhile -- my computer has been down. But Grace I read
your post and was very sorry to hear about the pneumonia! I was just whining
because I have a cold - shame on me! I will say a prayer for you today and
ask the "Big Guy" to heal you quickly amd get you back on your feet soon.

Hi Grace,
I am sorry to hear that you have been sick. I am sure it is a set back. It
is good news about your hair, though. Hair growth is a sign of improving
health. That is how I looked at it anyway. It gave me great encouragement to
see it growing.

Thanks, BJ:

I think our biggest challenge is often fear -- any hive or fever can terrorize
me with thoughts of a lupus reoccurrence or cancer....

But one day at a time, right? And make the most of it....

What color is it coming in? My neighbor lost hers during chemo and when it
grew back it was very blonde and had curls. She was ecstatic. She'd never
been blonde in her life and never had curls. LOL

I lost a lot of hair with Lupus chemo previously and that came in as before,
brown, with some grey and a bit of curl -- as before. But it was very fine
initially -- like a baby's. I expect the same -- so far it's on;y about 2
millimetres...but darkish.

I only lost the back-under part & it grew in kinky but the same color. For a
long time, if I put my hair in a ponytail, I had this fuzzy bush sticking
out of the back of my head.
