My skin has changed since throid crash , looks like white dry spots that
flack off when rubbed. My freckles are now twice the size same colour , and
other spots hard and raised like planters wortes yet there not. Maybe we
are shedding:)))

PML's wife has those white spots, maybe just the way your skin heals from
sores?
Or do you have Lupus and are in "the nile"..?

Hi Icky Nicky! : )
Just kiddin' & I'm sorry you're having a rough time with your skin. The
pred caused an acne-like break out on my face, but no where else. They
gave me some awesome topical stuff to use, but I forget the name.
My face is the worst as far as dryness. I can't wash it with even the
mildest cleanser, especially in the winter. Even the bit of shampoo
that gets on my face causes it to dry out & when I put a moisturizer on
it, it burns. Fortunately, this is the only continuous skin problem I
really have.
Okay, not enough info. Do you have them on your scalp? Have you been
running high fevers? Is there fluid in the sores? Do they itch?
Be really careful about keeping them clean, especially if there are any
open sores. There's just too much staph going around. And don't wait
too long before getting in to see a dermy, k? K!
Be Well & Hugs2,
Maggie
HI Nicole,
It is good to see you again. Prednisone can cause acne in some people. I am
sure you have tried OTC acne creams and lotions. You may want to get the
help of a dermatologist if they aren't working. There are lots of good meds
available for that problem.

I was just wondering if it could be the decoid type of lupus. I had a
neighbor that had it all over her. Itched like crazy and without treatment
left scars. If it is only on your face maybe not. Surprised that the doctor
has not thought of the other kind of lupus though. Whatever you do, stay out
of the sun.
Let us know how you are more often,
Paulette

Sorry I fell off the earth again, migraines are really bad again. The
sores start out pimply like but have fluid, I have clear fluid filled
cysts on the palms of my hands but they are not the same, they turn
into flat ulcer type things that seem to not heal worth a darn and are
itchy only sometimes. My face to is a wreck but I blame that acne on
the pred. Rhumey doesn't know but said we need to have it biopsied
cause this stuff is everywhere and my mouth ulcers are giving me hell
too.
THe good news is I see the dermatologies tomorrow in the am. AFTER I
go for accupuncture to quit smoking, for the third time.
I seem to be in a major flare with fevers and rhumey says he is
stumped because with all the tylenol I am getting with pain meds
10/500 - 6 daily I shouldn't be running 101 fevers? I am just lucky
like that:-)

Hi Nicole,
I am late getting in on this. You are likely off to the dermatologist by
now. I hope you get something that will help clear up your skin. Please let
us know how it goes. I feel bad for you. Things like that can really get you
down.

I went to see derm today and also saw the pathologist there who looked
me over. They are not sure what is going on but thing they will biopsy
in the next few weeks. Gave me some cremes and body wash. Maybe
blaming this all on pred? I am really tired so if it sounds like I
don't know much it is probably cause I feel like I don't. Also gave me
some oral antibiotics which confuses me but I am so sleepy that I need
to lay down for a bit maybe I will seem to know more then... we can
hope.:)

Hi Nicole,
Thank you for reporting in, especially when you are so very tired. The
antibiotics could be to handle any infection around the sores on your skin.
They likely want to see if that, along with the wash and cremes will help
things clear up. Get some rest. We will talk when you feel more up to it.

Yes, I think so too. You need to find out what is causing it. Be careful
of creams containing cortisone. They can have bad side effects if used
long term.
In the meantime, make sure you have as much fresh fruit and veg as you
can. In the long term it is very good for the skin.
Let us know ow you get on,
Lynne
