I did a dumb dumb thing today.  I did not take my meds until late afternoon
and I overdid things today.  Consequently I am in awful pain and need to
whine.....  cheese please?  Shame of me.  Why don't I get with the program?
I caused my own misery this time.  :>(

and you'll do it again, Nettie.  I've done it several times over the
years and yes, it's rough.  we don't think the meds are doing much
sometimes - until we forget to take them. :P

Yes kcat.... it really should be the first thing I take with food in the am.
But then I get busy and forget.  I am already on an increased dose of
Prednisone for an RA flare and boy am I hurting tonight.  Tomorrow I will
have to take an extra 5mg. to pull me out of it again.  Plus I inject
Methotrexate on Sunday and that alone makes me miserable for a couple of
days.  But at least I am walking and getting around.  The alternative is by
far worse!!!  :>))

Hi Nettie!

I have been AWOL, I know.  Reasons are as you have described.  I over
extended myself cleaning snow off the roof of my car & didn't get back
to you.

I hope you're feeling better by now & back on track with your meds.

The MTX really bites me hard for the coupla days following the shot too.
I will get on my arthritic knees this week & beg to do it at home, so I
can take it Thursday night.  Only if I have to, but I will.  I'll cry
too if need be.  They've been allowing me to have some back-up MTX at
home.  I just take it from the vial & put it with juice, but I only
absorb 17.5mg & was taking 20mg via injection.  I have done fine on 17.5
for the last 3 weeks that I've done it at home, so I will insist on
staying there as well.

We'll see what happens.  If you hear my name  on the news, please send
bail money. :-Þ

Hugs,
Maggie

Oh Maggie, MTX is awful isn't it?  Yesterday my husband and I did some power
grocery shopping and last minute stuff.  I had taken my injection that a.m.
By the time I got home I had chills and was about in tears.  I just doped
myself up with pain meds and headache meds and sleep meds.  Still did not
get to bed and asleep until about 1:00 or 2:00.  The Prednisone burst I am
on right now is keeping me awake.  I did sleep until 11:00 today though so
that should help.

Good luck to you.  Please try the injection method to bypass the digestive
system.  It made me so sick to my stomach taking orally.  I wouldn't do it
any other way at this point.  Injections are quick and easy.  I inject into
my thigh.

Well it is Monday and I have do some house straightening and make my special
potatoes for Thursday.  All of this will not end until the weekend after New
Years when we go to my husband's family gathering out of town.  Gawd.....
this is getting rough.  Then in April, I get to do this all over again cuz
my stepdaughter is getting married.  That week is going to be mad......
Fortunately her mom and stepdad are there to help out as well.  We get along
so fine.... really, we do.  We are friends and spend lots of family time
together.  We do it for the sake of the kids.  There is no reason for us to
be bitter.  She and I are very much alike in many ways and my husband and
her husband are too.  So....
we are proud of how we handle this.  Anyway, I went off on a tangent.
Sorry.

Have a great Holiday and take care.

Nettie

I have read where other people have problems with MTX and surprised.
When they first was told I had Lupus my doctor put me on Prednisone
and that stuff tore me up. I put on weight fast and was sick from it.
When I told my doctor he put me on MTX and been on it for about
four years now and doing great. I take four, 2.5 MG a week  which I
guess is light.

I was taking all four on Sunday and by Friday I was bombed out  so I
had a talk with my doctor and I now take 2 on Sunday and 2 on
Thursday. Seems to get me through the week better. Crazy but works.

I have been having a few light flares but I get going and don't know
when to stop. If I lay down in the afternoon I do pretty good.

Funny how this thing called Lupus works on us all different and Old
man weather  works on us also.

TO ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Hi Larry!

I hope to take the pills when I get down to 10mg. so, I'm glad you
mentioned that about taking them on different days.

Yeah, it does hit everyone different.   Lupus *&* the MTX.  I was
surprised when you said come Friday you were bombed.  It starts bombing
me within hours it seems, but this was injections, so it will work
differently than pills.  The liquid that I've been consuming is actually
easier to take in terms of an energy crises, but still....it does get me
down.

It's nice to hear from another MTX user, BTW.
Sorry that you're on it of course, but now you have a club membership. :
)  Take care & Merry Christmas to you!

Hugs,
Maggie

Maggie:

I got methotrexate over two months intravenously; yeah, no orange juice! But
mine was for cancer although my myositis (muscle inflammation) rather liked
it!

I was told by a nurse that meth. was just a cancer drug, then doctors
started to notice the effect it was having on RA patients being treated...

Grace.
