Hello all!
I have been "lurking" for quite some time and thought I would pop in to say
"hey!". Looks like people have been having a rough time lately - I try to
read the posts and remember you all in prayer as I can only imagine how
trying all this can be.
As for me, I am hanging in. I had been feeling better (infrequent fevers and
lower pain); however, things have worsened recently due to my crazy schedule
and those little things life throws at you that you can't control. My pain
in my joints is up and well as my frequent low grade fevers and stomach
upset. They still don't know what is going on and I am going on year two of
the search for answers. My docs think I should go get a second opinion at a
University hospital and I am toying with the idea. Honestly, I am just so
discouraged about the whole thing I don't want to deal with (or pay for!)
anymore doctors who scratch their heads and say they don't know what is
wrong or who call me a somaticizer or drug seeker. Soooo... I dunno - I will
stick with what I am doing for now. Trying to rest (ha! I'm a grad student
with clinical hours to put in at the hospital), exercise, eat right, take
vitamins and use pain killers sparingly when I just need a break from the
pain.
On the bright side - I saw the chain on Ultracet and I second that motion!
It works great for me and is what make this tolerable on days when I want to
scream! Thanks for the good info on the medication. Thank you for letting me
pop in and out like this - your kind words are always appreciated and I will
try to be better at adding to posts when I have something to contribute!

Hi Stephanie,
Good luck with your discomforts and symptoms and classes!
Don't get too discouraged as it can take many years to get
the dx you are looking for.... it took 9 years after I had been to the
Mayo for my dx to be 'put on the record' as the rheumy put it. All the
ducks have to be in a row just so in order for the doc to say 'yes, you
have *whatever*... specially with SLupusE so you should prepare yourself
mentally for the duration... keep on lurking and listening and even
sharing occasionally when you need to for support and just know that we
are all with you and behind you pushing for you, during your quest for
an answer!
Hugs to you from me, Shelagh

You know it is sad when we have so much information available to us
all and some docs are still so eager to lable people drug seekers. I
know I know there are those out there just looking for drugs? Doctors
must also know (and try to understand the patience side of undiagnosed
probs) that it can be so frustrating to float around feeling lousy
without a dx or treatment to speak of and not be listened to.
Hang in there and document everything you can. For my disability
hearing I decided to keep an activity and pain journal and it has been
really eye opening. Sending good thoughts your way - please pardon any
rambling pred makes me ramble:)
