Hey back at you George and group.
Nothing new or exciting to report from my corner of the world. As always it
is one day at a time with some of them good and some not so good.

I am back from a quick trip to Missouri. Still in PT for my ankle and refusing to have surgery. I
will use the brace and hope for the best.
ONE question, anyone ever try glucosamine HCL for joint pain. I can not take plaquenil and am
trying to go down on the medrol but hitting a point where the foot joints and knees and ankles are
hurting more, so what's YOUR opinion on that one
Other than that, still hobbling along as usual. Thankfully

Janers,
My mom takes glucosamine HCL for her joint pain after her Dr suggested she
give it a try. She said it seems to help some. On one of my extended
visits she added some of it to my daily supply of meds...I did not notice
any change. Maybe I didn't take it long enough <g> and give it a fair
chance. Guess all you can do is give it a try and see if it helps you.
Hugs,
Sherry

Taken from -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucosamine :
Glucosamine is a popular alternative medicine used by consumers for the
treatment of osteoarthritis.
Chondroitin is sometimes used in conjunction, and animal studies suggest
that chondroitin may increase its efficacy.
Clinical studies have consistently reported that glucosamine appears safe.
Since glucosamine is usually derived from shellfish, those allergic to
shellfish may wish to avoid it.
However, since glucosamine is derived from the shells of these animals while
the allergen is within the flesh of the animals,
it is probably safe even for those with shellfish allergy.
I would suggest trying it and seeing what happens over time... it sounds
safe and the efficacy has been proven in some.... worth a go I'd say.
My husband used it for his arthritis in his spine, leg <singular> and arm
<again sing.>..... and found some relief after a bit of time; but now it
has gotten worse again and he was given tramadol SR, once daily and it works
like a charm for him.... for all his aches and pains.
I feel for your pain in your knees though, OMG I had it waking me up in the
night it was so bad!... finally got onto chloroquin and it worked a miracle
until it damaged my retinas.... irreversibly... and I had to discontinue
it... my miracle med! Nothing else has worked on arthritis as well for me!
It is a shame for you that plaquenil isn't an option... wishing you good
luck!
hugs, Shelagh
