Things are still a mess. One of the local tunnels is flooded and now the EPA
has decided that it is a enviro-hazard so all the water must be pumped out
and taken for treatment. The tree damage around here is tremendous. All one
hears is the sound of chain saws. Huge trees down all over the place. A few
neighborhoods over from me just got electric on Sunday. Many more are still
without.
Fist we need to get the insurance people out to look at the car. The first
group of people who were supposed to get out have been replaced by a firm in
the Wash. DC area. Who knows when they are coming. We are really hoping they
will fix the car and not total it.
We ran away this weekend and went to the mountains. We drove for several
hours before we stopped seeing constant signs of hurricane damage and still
we saw damage even in the mountains. It was a nice to get away and it forced
me to relax. Especially since we went to one of my favorite places on the
Peddler River. We were hoping to see someone who lives near there but they
were either out or just not receiving guests as their driveway was gated and
it's too long of a walk to walk to their house so we said "Oh, well, maybe
the next time" But we enjoyed being out in one of the most beautiful places
on this earth.

Do any of you *americans*, and I do use the term loosely as we all live
in N.A.;
but, do any of you know the Yellowstone park area?
We, my 2 preschoolers and husband and I, drove down to Colorado (my
parents were living there at the time as my father was involved with
Amer. Mine Services) driving across the northern states and then down
through the park and stayed in a fantastically beautiful area called the
Shoshonee River and a Lodge built on it's banks and I, to this day,
want to return there and see it again... I remember it as being so
special and only hope my dreams aren't going to be dispelled when I
actually get there again.. you know how things always look somewhat
different when you return to them, especially when remembered with
sentiment or a special occasion is tied to them?
Just curious as Bev mentioned in her post about 'running away' that they
found the most beautiful place on the face of the earth...
and here I thought we were living there here in BC?<g>!
Then I remembered the Yellowstone Park along with the Old faithful
geyser and the peaceful and lovely lodge on the Shoshonee river.
Just curious if any of you know of what I speak?
Thanks for your help, from, Shelagh

I haven't been to Yellowstone Park since I was a little girl and I went
through there in the dead of winter.
Actually there are many beautiful places on this earth. Some are more
special than others for different reasons. Anyone who has ever view the Taj
Mahal knows the feeling of awe and the same can be said of the Sistine
Chapel. (Did I just spell them right?) Driving across the Chesapeake Bay is
always amazing. Looking out at the ocean or being out in the middle of it on
a ship with whales or dolphins around is profound. But then there are those
little places here on earth that have probably no more value than just being
another piece of real estate that holds the whole world together but for
whatever reason are very special.
Maybe this one little place is just wrapped up in special memories. It's
usually very quiet (in terms of people) with no one around. Just the sound
of water running over the rocks and huge boulders large enough to have a
picnic on any one of a half dozen. I've seen it in all the seasons and it is
just a lovely spot.
I'll have to share some pictures. (I just want a picture of you in that
flowing dress down by the water!)
