I started looking at this group in hopes of helping a new friend.
All I see are posts from a couple of sickos.

Don't give up so easily!
Give us a try...
Perhaps post your question because I can almost guarantee that 'someone'
will be able to guide you
to an answer
and it won't be a 'sicko'...
good luck to you and your friend !!
hugs,
Shelagh

I agree with Shelagh on this one. Give us a try.
YES the sicko's are out there but most of us block them easily or just don't pay attention to them

What can we help you with?

THANK YOU to both Shelagh and Janers.
I do not have any questions yet.
Met the lady a week ago and found out she has Lupus three days ago.
Googled and found a little.  Came here because I am familiar with
support groups and wanted to see if this one might help if she, I , or
both of us need help.  Apparently her Lupus is in remission now.  She
exercises almost every day (1 1/2 hours in a pool).
We appear to be very compatible and I have high hopes that we develop a
long relationship.

Thanks again

Good wishes to you both.
It takes a while to figure out if people are compatible with each other and
see the way each lives.
There have been many posters here, who've had long successful and happy
marriages.
Others not.
Many (for various reasons) are no longer posting.
Lupus runs in my family, so I read here and sometimes post.
Finger and hand problems prevent from posting much anymore.

IF you have a computer with at least 1 gig of memory there is a program
that allows you to dictate to various programs instead of typing.
AFAIK Dragon Naturally Speaking is "the" program.
Suggest you look on Ebay and Google for more info.

BTW  The "while" you mention above took me, and she, about three hours
of conversation on the first date.  And, looks had nothing to do with it.

Thanks. I've save the info.

It takes about 18 months for the honeymoon period to wear off and then the "work"
begins of (finding out how to) meet each others needs.

18 months!  Heck I am happy I am still buying green bananas:-))
Having been married I understand your comment.
One of the nice things about being older and still having a working mind
is that one is able to evaluate people and situations better.
And remember an honest "Yes Dear" does wonders for a relationship.

Lou,
Welcome!  Stick around.  Normally this group has numerous people who will
answer any question, find the answer if there is one, and offer any personal
experience to help someone seeking help, info, understanding and comfort.

Thank You!
Hopefully my friend's Lupus will stay quiet and we will not need support
 for a long time.

Welcome.
Posting to this group with on-topic (OT) subjects makes you a member. This
group has traditionally been very accepting of what is OT. Complaints to
CGTs (cheesy-good-things) about your daily life are OK as well as
questions.

Just be sure to filter out the garbage that is posted here. If you don't
know how someone here will help if you ask. And don't reply to the "sickos"
