Sorry for not posting but we have been very busy at our house.

I was fortunate to not be in Isabel's path but we did have a flood
last Thursday. We had a new refrigerator installed Thursday. My Husband
was there and everything was fine at 2:00 pm. At 7:00 pm, when we
came home we found and inch of water in the kitchen, basement and
half of the living room and dining room. The water tube for the ice
maker had broken and was spraying full force.

It was in the duct work, all over my husband's woodworking equipment,
and the carpet in the living room and dining room is ripped up by the
clean up crew, the insurance company sent. We have fans and de-
humidifiers trying to dry everything out.

My poor parrotlet got moved to the back part of the house in our bedroom.
He slept with us then I moved him to a friends house. Funny, I been needing
more humidity for my bird because he has a feather problem right now but I
think we got it the hard way. It is in the vents and insulation which they
are going to have to get rid of or dry out so we don't end up breathing mold
and mildew. Yuck!

We were planning to go out of town this last weekend. Glad it did not happen
then. It would have really been a mess.

We are living in the bedroom. Where we have another TV. I feel so displaced.
The insurance agent is supposed to come and meet with me today to see how we
can get back to normal. If they re-stretch my carpet or replace it, they
will still have to move my 55 gal aquarium. That will be no fun.

My back is better but my sinuses are a mess. Guess because of all the
dehumidifiers in the house. Glad when they are gone. They are noisy and
heating up the house.

My other concern is my husbands tools downstairs. They are his babies and
his therapy. And they were not cheap. Glad my guitar was not in the
basement. The basement is Chaotic. Guess it might be a good time to clean
out, huh. Do you think?

Yesterday we had 4 inches of rain in one day. I'm really tired of water now.

Surprised that my husband has actually been good natured about all of this.
He said there is no use being upset. There is not a whole lot we can do
about it.

Sorry for not posting, it just has been a little complicated around here.
Thanks Maggie for thinking of me.

I'm still here, just a little water logged. Glub, Glub.

Hugs,
Paulette & Noah

You could consider spraying them with WD40

We are talking about his electric tools, like a radial arm saw, Planner, 2
drum sanders and a scroll saw.
Like I say they weren't cheap. Thankful his drill press and table saw was
missed by water. Water is not good for electric motors.
and polished surfaces. Don't know what they will say. Will know this
afternoon.

Oh Paulette!

I'm so sorry!  How awful to have to go through all of that.  I would
think the insurance company would cover his tools.  I hope so anyway.

What I'm wondering about is the legal obligations of the fridge
manufacturer?  Also, was the fridge professionally installed, by either
the manufacturer or the dealer?

You gotta love the way a man can just be so easy goin'.  I'm mean
obviously there's nothing you can do to stop what's already occured, but
I'd be right there with ya.  We're just a more emotional gender & worry
warts at that.  But it's good to have him there to remind you that
worrying does us more harm than good.

I'm praying for you Paulette.  Hoping it all gets taken care of &
quickly too.  Glad you're doing better with pain & I assume you've seen
a difference with your thyroid by now too?

Hugs & Prayers,
Maggie

Paulette,
Thinking of you and your family and sending prayers and good vibes your way.

Luckily you have insurance and it is only "things" that are wet and or
damaged and can be replaced or repaired.

Hopefully they will get the wet insulation and stuff out quickly.

Hugs,
Sherry

Hi:
Wow am I feeling bad for you both, Paulette and Bev!...I don't know what
would be worse... Paulette's 'fridge induced flood' or Bev's
'hurrycane'.....
I am feeling really quite lucky right now and after hearing about your
trials feeling a tad bit of guilt with it!
We have sunny skies and more in sight... our newly planted front lawn is
coming up green and my cherry tomatoes are all turning red and
sweet..... also my little apple tree produced enough for a cake and a
pie, both of which are gone <g> - after the deer and raccoons helped
themselves!
the peach tree lost it's curl and came back (though no fruit this year)
and our new kitty (now 4 months old)  is blending in so well with our
family (we picked her up at 14 weeks old from the shelter).
Puff,  my 2 year old kitty has taken to her finally and they even play
together now....... her name is Wispurr as she has such a tiny meow that
sounds kind of like a cooing warble in the back of her throat and we can
hardly hear her at times though her purr more than makes up for that in
sound! The vet says it is her 'breed' type (something mixed with silver
tabby so as she looks like a tiny grey squirrel with a long tail and
small foxy face) that gave her her lack of  'voice'  and I worry about
sending her outside alone without a loud distress signal for me to
hear.... so will keep her close by on the lead off the porch till I am
sure she can fend for -and if necessary defend, herself.
(BTW, anyone out there know of such a 'breed' of cat?)
Anyhow.... my CGT is probably fairly obvious as I am able to sit and
write this as well as enjoying my surroundings fully.....when I am
flaring life can seem so shrouded and seems difficult to penetrate or to
get the energy up to bother!

Anyhow, I do believe I am finally well and out of a flare that at times
seemed never ending;
what with repeatedly inflamed TMJ and sinus and subsequent raised pred
levels the past weeks along with visitors (unexpected but welcome);  it
all made for a very trying period of time.
So finally I feel well <bwg> and the fall season is my absolute favorite
with it's typically beautiful,  crisp winds combined with the leaves
fresh off the trees adding their scent to the mix of salt, sea and
season end apples,
all of it making walking to the beach, 10 minutes down the road or
getting the mail, 5 minutes down the road just such complete pleasures!
For me life couldn't be better at this point in time;
and that is how I live,  day to day making sure to savor each moment;
and surely it doesn't/can't  get better than this!?
I know that for me this is *it*!
:D
Hugs....from Shelagh,
Hoping that everyone gets a taste of life that is this good!
And that Bev and Paulette can vicariously enjoy my bite!

Thanks Bruce... from you that is a compliment as I do think you have
such a way with words.... I always love your messages that seem encoded
with a 'message' all their own- from your perception <g>!
Hugs...... from Shelagh

Oh my! What a mess!!!!!!!! Thank goodness you found it when you did! Getting
things dried out is going to be difficult. Look on the bright side - at
least it was clean water!

Thank you all for your encouragement and support. I talked to the insurance
agent yesterday. (He came to the house) He said they are going after the
company that installed the frig. And whatever they get from them, the first
thing covered will be our deductable so we will not be out of anything. The
problem is Mike's tools. He said for us to get someone to evaluate them to
see if they are repairable or have to be replaced and we have no clue as to
who to get ahold of . Some came from Lowe's and some came from Sears. Sears
may not be a problem. But not sure about the others, unless we send them to
the manufacturer which would be a pain. Some are quiet heavy.
A crew is going to replace the carpet pad and re-stretch the carpet and
shampoo it and also replace the duct work and clean the ducks for mold, etc.
And they are supposed to move the furniture so we won't have to. Got to get
some boxes to pack up things out of my china cabinet so it can be moved. I
am just glad the blowers and de-humidifiers are gone. The house is a lot
quieter. I slept better anyway.

Mike is concerned about me coughing so much. I think it has to do with the
paper dust I am exposed to at work. I work for a company that makes paper
school supplies and even though I am in the office, it still hangs in the
air. I have a air filter maching in my office too. That is why I am
concerned about mold in the vents at home. Don't need that too. I also am
having problems with my jaw for which I think is related with my sinesis or
I'm trying to get TMJ. Not sure if I need to go to a doctor or dentist for
that.

My bird is doing better over at a friends house. He is eating better from
the example of her bird. She is really good with animals. I told her she
missed her calling. Mrs. Doolittle needs to be her name. They may not have
to move the aquarium. I hope not. You risk breakage and leaking when you try
to move them with water.

One good note, fall is definitely in the air here. I love this time of year.
Bugs are gone and the air is so crisp. We should have a pretty fall because
we had plenty of water this summer for the trees.

Again, thanks for your concern. You are a great group of friends,

Paulette (Ethyl Mermaid)

That is some great news, Paulette!  I'm so glad your insurance is going
after the fridge manufacturer.

Have you thought much about personal compensation? I don't know your
state laws, but your insurance agent might be familiar with all that. If
you decide to get some compensation, you may need to keep a log of all
of your time & money spent & on what it was spent on. Mileage for
driving the tools to & fro & postage if you need to send them through
the mail.  An hour to pack up the china, time lost at work because you
had to be home for the repairmen, etc..

Gosh, although it's great to have everything covered, it's gotta be a
horrid stress pit to go through it all.  I know I'd want compensation
for the extra Ultram I'd have to take! : )  Of course, the fight they
may put up may not even be worth that extra stress.  With my luck, it'd
probably go all the way to the Supreme Court!
: )

Maybe your sinuses are acting up from all the dampness in the house??  I
guess you'll know for sure if they start to get better once the ducts
are cleaned & all.

Hugs to you & prayers too,
Maggie
