Heigh ho hum! No breakthroughs, not even small ones. The daily
excitement of seeing the "New Posts" flag bobbing up and down! The daily
disappointment of finding it's only him again, again. And again. And
it's raining, again. Drips outside - drips inside - bah!

Anyone going anywhere exciting? I'm off to Prague on the Czech Republic
next month. I've been looking at the city's most informative web site on
the public transport system - for a start, there is one and it works -
and found a pretty useless piece of information. If you take a dog on
the Metro it needs its own ticket UNLESS it's in a box: boxed dogs go
free.

I meant to ask.... why are you going to Prague, if I may ask?
Is it to do with your stamps or another interest/hobby of yours?
Or are you and your wife taking a holiday and that is your chosen
destination....because ?

I thought too the place was taken over by iron aliens, so I didn't post at
all.'

Am doing ok, had the stent placed and it is the largest made they told me.
I look like a black and white road map with bruises all over. My medrol and
aspirin and NOW plavix well that did it. Plus my esophagus got inflammed and
the chest pain a cometh.
Was told yesterday in a year they would take me off the aspirin but never
the plavis. Am high risk for bleeding now and it could happen internally too
so BE careful. YA think !!!  Not screwing with my life LOL

But I feel good, even got one bp pill removed and one cholesterol pill gone.
I may even get another dose of bp gone in 2 months.  Hurry for lower pills.
I won't however take the osteo pills by mouth again. My esophagus is not
good and I cannot take that chance of bleeding. NOW fight with insurance to
ok restasis and so far NO.
Plus fight with them to ok the stomach drug I take 2 times a day.

Oh well such is my life but darn good right now.  time to enjoy it and enjoy
my grandkids and look forward to traveling south this winter.  finally. Last
Jan was the start of this whole darn mess.

ENJOY people while you can.

Have fun in Prague and what ever you are doing, take your time and take it
all in
hugs to all

Not going nowhere this summer, not for nobody, not nohow. However,
after making it OK through two weeks of desert in the summer of 2007
(I'm sure sun blocking shirts and hats helped some), I'm thinking
again of going to Iraq for a similar kind of trip. That wouldn't be
until Jan,, though, and I'd have to get mega permission to take off
work!

It's  been raining here for several days. But you know I love the
stuff.  We had a brutal July. Woulda thought it was August then.
Well, August has been easier because of all the rain.  Still, glad I'm
not in FL.

I'm going inside books.  I've read 8 thus far for this class.  Retain
any of it?  Who knows. But I've read 'em!  :)

Iron Jerk sure seems to have taken over.

Speaking of dogs and travel - Hubby and I were discussing where we
would go if we had to for work.  I would love to see England again
(not to mention Scotland, Wales, & Ireland) but I remembered a law
back in days of yore re: detaining incoming pets.  Are those draconian
measures still in place?  No way I could kennel Ming for even a day.
Wasn't it like six weeks of quarantine?

Ming wouldn't fit in a box.  He tries to fit in my lap but...

<http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/quarantine/qindex.htm> is
the Quarantine Homepage; the details are at

http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/pets/index.htm

and factsheets are here:

http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/factsheet/factsheet.htm

Download, read and inwardly digest #1 #3 #4

The default is six MONTHS quarantine. (If you think all this is
complicated be thankful Ming isn't a ferret!) It looks to me that the
import of a dog from mainland USA to European Union without quarantine
IS possible; he would have to be vaccinated against rabies,
microchipped, de-flea'd etc.

Also there seem to be considerable restrictions on how the animal may
travel - certainly not by sitting on your lap! Probably in a special
dog-crate, that goes in the (pressurised!) hold, and arranged by an
approved company; maybe not on the same plane.

Also, there are requirements on travel between one country and the next,
and some look as if they take time especially for "non-resident dogs".
If you & Ming are planning a multi-country trip, I'd suggest sending the
schedule to the helpdesk mentioned on the above websites and asking if
it is in principle possible.

Thanks much, Andy.  I think it all sounds far too complicated to
bother. And I hate the idea of him having to be in cargo, much less on
a separate plane.

Oh he's got his shots, no fleas, heartworm meds, trimmed toenails,
regular baths, micro-chip (first thing I did when I go thim) and minty
fresh breath from daily toothbrushings. :)

You know, I thought it was months but thought I was misremembering. I
mean, that's a lot of time in a dog's life.  Especially a big guy like
him.

I think we'll stay on this side of the Atlantic for a while. :(
