Cool site, Andy...very cool. I am not *terribly* sun sensitive, but I am
much more sensitive to certain types of fluorescent lighting. I notice it
mostly in supermarkets (the suburban sanctuaries of sunny California); one
market I react to within one minute, so I go to another store that I can get
most of my shopping done in 20 minutes or so. In store #1 the symptom is
blisters in my mouth. In store #2 is a decrease in cognitive ability
(commonly called "spacing out") I have an "assistant" who helps me (we just
went through this today), if I notice I'm going crazy, I will say "help!" Or
she will notice that I am huddling by the mops or something, and she will
say "you're getting sick, let's go..."
Right now, in California, the energy-efficiency folks are giving everyone
fluorescent bulbs to put in their houses! They tried to give them to me,
and when I mentioned I have lupus they quickly took all the bulbs back
<sigh>. The point here is that it used to be safe to visit someone else's
home, and feel fairly sure of finding incandescent lighting.... but no
longer.
Anyway.... thanks for the info on the site
