Hi everyone...I hope everyone is well out there...It's been some time since
I wrote on here and I just wanted to update on how things with my sister in
law are going.  She finally learned to walk again.  After months and months
with the colostomy bag on her side, she had the surgery reversed early this
fall.  She's been doing okay since then.  She had a good winter, but has
been feeling ill again lately.  Her doctor recently told her that her
"blood" is low.  I'm not sure exactly what that is....anyone else know....?
It wasn't specific enough for me, but is there something in particular that
a doctor is refering to when he says that?  She's been very tired again
lately.  Been in the hospital for about 4 nights out of the last week.
Another flare up as far as we know...  She's been through a lot, but she's
tough.  We nearly lost her a year and a half ago, but she's come through it.
I hope that some of you out there may take strength in the story of a young
woman who was to the brink and came back.  She sure gives me strength.
Again, I hope all of my old friends out there are doing well.  I will try to
keep you updated a little better.  My account was down for a long time, and
then I lost my habit of checking in.  Take care!
Karla Biggin ...Well...Payne now...I got married recently : )

Congrats on your wedding Karla!!
And re the doctor saying 'your blood is low'?... usually they are referring to the
hemoglobin count/red cell count.... by saying that...
HTH...
hugs, Shelagh

Hello Karla
Congratulations on your marriage .  May you have many happy and healthy years
together.
Did your SIL or you get The Lupus Book?
The Lupus Book: A Guide for Patients and Their Families: Daniel J. Wallace:
I think the bloodworks in it.
BJ and I each ask for a copy of the bloodwork report, each time and keep a file
at home.
I usually ask just as the appointment is ending and he says "sure, ask the
secretary to make a copy on your way, but leave us the original" (he puts the
sheet inside the file, but sideways, so she'll know which to photocopy.
You could try that. I do that for every test result, not just bloodwork, in case
I ever move or change doctors.

If her doctor asks why she wants a copy, say "we like to watch the trends and
don't have time to take notes here".

I don't remember hearing about a colostomy. Was that because she had trouble
after being on pain meds?

Its good to hear you again, Karla and a Dana update.

I mostly lurk because of hand and elbow problsms.
Hugs from me,
J
