Hi
Back and at the alternative to HELP.......LOL

Saw my doctor today and indeed even with higher doses of medrol my wbc count is way too low. So
she is thinking other ways to try and control this so called LUPUS.

I have more joint pain and well ran out of options for treatment, but for the extreme of using
cytoxin. She is NOT going to use that until, God forbid, my kidneys are involved in this. Right
now they are not.  My GFR or kidney function is 63 which means under 60 and you have moderate
kidney disease.  right now, mild. What ever that means.  I have no blood and such.
Back to pain.
since medrol upping and shots have not helped much over the winter, she suggested again A PACK
pharmacist to get me some PURE   DHEA and start on 100 mg a day. There has been research out
there about DHEA and lupus and it seems to be helping with control of it.

So I am going to try it and in 6 weeks get some more blood tests and see if it has.

With all the information on it, apparantly it has helped with bone loss, much more and of coure
sex life ( which I do have but barely :)   I mean RESPONSE to it ) haha.  any who....
I was wondering if anyone has tried this and if so or NOT why?

Anyone?

Hey Janers,

It's me again!  It seems that after years of only reading these subjects
are hitting me dead on.

Many years ago someone, probably on this NG, recommended high doses of
DHEA for lupus.  We did the investigating and decided to give it a try.
I took it for a while and once during a Rheumy visit after
questioning I admitted to taking it.  My doctor asked about it and we
told her what we had learned.  She sort of shrugged it off.

Somewhere along the line as I was flaring and hurting and sick (queasy)
we felt maybe I was just taking too much stuff and I stopped the DHEA.

Fast forward to the recent past.  After all the chemicals they could
pump into me I wasn't doing too well. Then the same rheumy doctor we had
introduced to DHEA before now asked me to start taking it!  She is now a
believer. I also think it helps.

I take 200mg in the morning and 100mg at night.  It has been our
understanding that the higher doses are needed to have a therapeutic effect.

You have a much better understanding of the technical side of this lupus
that we live with than I ever will.  But there is something to the
testosterone thing and that somehow causes some of our endocrine system
to do good stuff.

Good luck,

George

PS  It is said that Mark Maguire's home run record was a result of DHEA use.

WELL PLAY BALL GEORGE!!!

If Mark can use it so can I!!! hahahah.
You don' t know how much your email has helped me understand this.  I have read and read and
most of what I did read last night, it showed pretty promising results.

I had a testosterone level done and estrogen well heck all hormones and all were very low.
VERY Little if any testosterone and my family doc told me that last year when we were talking
Libido.....enough said.

So I am not afraid of taking it, since I have exhausted most of the nasty drugs anyhow.

I figure maybe I can pump up too and finally look like DEMI MOORE in GI Jane...
oh yeah sure.  At my age, I will be lucky to look like Martha stewart in sweats haha

have a great day and tHANKS
