Hello Family!

I have not written in so long, because I have a bug in my computer, and my
guru has told me to use the machine as little as possible until he can get
it on the bench and look at it. <sigh>

I was still asleep this morning when I felt a tugging at my blankets, and a
furry little hand started pulling on me---it was Pigmet, of course!  He told
me that I should not ingore my friends "cause remember how bad it feels when
then are not there for you!"

Okay, well I *am* here.  Thus far, I have been able to pick up my mail, and
keep an eye on my bank accounts (I have been a victim of credit fraud, which
I will not go into, but has been very upsetting), so if you want to write me
a letter, I will get it, and hopefully be able to reply as well.

I tapered off Neurontin for several months.  I decided to do this because I
take 16 maintenance medications every day, with special goodies on the side.
Anyway, we made a very slow taper, and by the time I was on the low end of
the taper, I was having massive headaches.  I went back to my original dose
of Neurontin, and now, after several weeks, I am headache free.  It is nice
to know some things can actually be fixed with medication.

I go to my rheumie in San Francisco next Monday.  Unfortunately, I don't
have someone to drive me, so I am increasing my Prednisone and preparing to
drive down myself.  Driving and traffic do not bother me, but I do have a
fear of getting lost, or being sideswiped by one of those City busses.  Ugh!
Wish me well!

I love all you guys and am sending many well-wishes your way.  I gotta turn
the machine off now.

Wish you could find some one in the Santa Rosa area because the trip is
really hard.  Then you have to find a parking space.  Sending you good
thoughts on the trip                       ruth

Good luck Mair;
I know a drive like that can really be exhausting so stock up on water bottles and snacks for the trip... to keep your energy up and your fluids in particular.
It all helps and it is all good!
Let us know how it goes -once you are home, safe and sound!
.....wishing you well!!
hugs,

I do not envy you the trip to San Francisco as driving in the city and all
is very nerve racking...will be thinking of you and waiting to hear how the
trip went and what your guru finds on your computer!

Hugs,
Sherry

Hi again guys,

Thank you so much for your notes of support.  I haven't driven to The City
by myself in a while.  I am just going to allow myself a lot of time, and
take my little cooler with some water, juice and fruit.  It's really not
that big a deal.  Yes, driving in The City can be nerve wracking, but I'm an
LA gal replanted, so I am used to most of the vehicular mayhem... with the
exception of those Muni Busses!  I'm going to try to find a street that they
don't use this time!

The increase in Pred (I went up to 25mg) has got me energized, but not to
wirey or hungry.

Now that I have my money, I will probably get my computer into the shop
*Pronto,* and get it back in good running condition.

Lots of love to all of you!

Mair

Muni ... Municipal. The local name for the bus, trolley and cable car
system in San Francisco. See the following link and check the slideshow.

Probably want a broadband connection.

I do have a broadband connection and thank you Timothy!
Municipal busses, aha! we have them too... and we have very similar trolley busses as well, whereby their electricity to run on, is directed from the two shafts hooked onto 2 electric lines above them in their lanes and they run along that way, but at times the electric connection shafts disconnect  delaying traffic till the driver gets out and taking his 'hook' reconnects the electrical lines to the bus carrying on....here is a pic of ours:
http://tinyurl.com/2bkby7
They are smooth and quiet, also clean and nice to ride too, which is nice for the city!
Your Munis are what we call 'cable cars' or 'street cars' when we see them in 'the movies'
....so now I know!
... thanks again for your explanation and link!

The "Muni" Busses are rail cars and they are real nice... they are not real
big, but rather slimlined for the places they need to go... which is my beef
with them... they run down the middle of regular streets, and one must keep
an eye out for them.  If I was taking the bus I wouldn't mind, but as is, I
don't relish the idea of being squished by one.  I had fine luck when I went
down on monday... there were no parked cars in the street, so it was just me
and the bus, and my car is little.

My doc seems concerned that I have a tremor.  I never know what he is going
to find of significance.  When I first go in, he sits there reading my chart
like I am not even in the room, and then without even looking up he says
"you have a tremor.  I need to check..[and he then crossed off almost every
box on the test request].  Also I am now part of a genetic study being done
at the university.  I don't know much about it yet... I have not really read
the paperwork.

I was okay on Monday to get to The City, but then halfway back home I
started getting really tired.  Yesterday and most of today I have spent in
bed.

Twyla has what appears to be an allergy.  She had a sneezy night, and that
interrupted both our sleep.  Finally she fell asleep right over my arm at
about 8am, and stayed there for a couple of hours!

I have not gotten my computer fixed yet.   I just fire it up and look at
what I need to see every 2-3 days.  I just don't know how best to spend my
"extra" money yet this month.

With love and Devotion
from Mair and Pigmet

Mair, Good news about the Meds that really work...glad that your headache is
gone again...
Hope your Great Adventure to the city will be just that and not to hard on
you...
Maybe Pigmet would like to go and give you directions...
Oh and I hate when our beloved Computers get sick..my hard drive finally
gave up the ghost about a week ago..so I lost alot as I couldn't even get my
cd rewriter to recognize a cd...So I didn't get to save my pictures or
graphics...address's either...DARN it...
But the good news...We found out that because we had a builder's  version of
Window's XP Professional, you can put that on up to 10 computers...and so I
am now running XP as opposed to Win 2000....
