Ruth, I also have to comment...
I have been sick for years with hardly a diagnosis, much less
treatment. I have been diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome and may also
have Lupus. I have taken prednisone and methotrexate with no
success.
Just over 2 months ago I began taking Plaquenil, and I have already
seen a noticeable improvement. I used to have daily sneezing fits
multiple times a day that were just unnatural, and in the last 3 weeks
I have sneezed only 2-3 times. This may sound silly or insignificant
to some people, but it really is a positive change for me. My
exhaustion and fatigue are also improved, though not completely
cured. Still, I am amazed that ANYTHING has been able to help me.
As a side comment, before being diagnosed with autoimmune disease, I
went to a holistic Doctor. Almost none of his treatments were covered
by insurance. I easily spent $3000 with this doctor over the course
of 3 months, and not one thing he did or suggested was helpful. I was
taking 72 vitamins/supplements a day, which nearly required a personal
assistant to keep up with due to some needing to be taken separately
from others.
So plaquenil has been a positive and welcome treatment for me. I
personally don't think it's anyone's place to criticize how any one
person chooses treatment because what works for each person may be
different.
Because "iron justice" lacks so much along the lines of credibility
and basic human kindness and respect, his opinions of my choice of
treatment are insignificant to me. What matters is that I am happy
with my choice, my medicine, and my improved health.

I am thankful that Plaquinal has help some people.
I was on it for 6 months and noticed no improvement. <turn away now if
your squeemish> I had a strong bout with the auto immune system
atacking my stomack and colon. Thru up for 5 days. Oddly on the
sixth day I woke in a shear panic. All color was VIVID. I didn't
realize I had lost my color vision. It had happend so slowly that I
honestly didn't notice it at all. I had read that color blindness
could be a possible side effect but was willing to take that chance to
be out of pain. I haven't gone back on the Plaquinal. If I thought
it would help me thopugh I'd give up color vision any time. ANYTHING
to be out of the pain.

Teresa, I am sorry that your "try" at help with Plaquenil did not relieve
your symptoms. It has been of benifit for many but obviously does not help
everyone. I know that it builds up in the system and is not an immediate
"fix" and is sometimes so gradual that "we" don't realize the benifit until
we stop taking it and discover that it has indeed been helping. I have
never been "pain free" (oh how nice that would be) but have managed to have
my pain at tolerable levels most of the time.
Hang in there as there will be relief and help for us all one of these days.
(Even for people like Iron Justice, who has crawled out from under his stack
of antiquated "sources" to continue his unwanted ramblings on every
newsgroup he can find.)
Hugs,
Sherry

I am going to have to agree. i think with all the meds i am taking,
Plaquenil is one of them that I have noticed takes away some of the
issues associated with lupus. I have tried taking it at a time
different when others are being taken, just to insure myself that the
plaquenil works, and yes it does!!!!!!!! I agree with Ruth--get out of
here if you dont have lupus or have never tried the medication that
makes our lives halfway liveable!
Peace

Why don't YOU .. calculate this .. cost .. for us ..
Add it up and post what you .. generally .. think this drug .. regimen
has COST you over the last .. what was it .. twenty-five years ..
Do everyone a favor .. and then compare it to .. low iron diet ..
vegetarian diet .. and monthly bloodlettings .. and most likely .. no
bloodlettings once the iron levels have been lowered ..
Soo .. thousands upon thousands of dollars as opposed to .. ? ..
what .. ? .. the 'cost' of the .. doctor to bloodlet .. ya .. which
they .. REFUSE to do ..
They WILL sell you the drugs though ..
Oh yeah .. you already KNOW that .. don't ya ..
Let me tell you something .. the twenty-five years you have been doing
drugs .. and paying for these drugs through your nice little ..
health .. plan .. has discouraged the use of the most .. efficient of
all therapies as EVIDENCED by the .. study which declares ..
OUTRIGHT .. bloodletting to be PREFERRED .. before ... b-e-f-o-r-e ..
understand .. ?
Before .. b-e-f-o-r-e .. planequil ..
You know how many people .. died and screamed into the night because
they have no .. cash .. FOR those .. drugs .. ?
More people have **no access** to those drugs than .. do ..
And you have something to say DIRECTLY to .. me .. ?
Do .. ya ..

Oh .. you do .. have something to .. say ..
"Having more success in the medical field than anyone in history!"
Understand .. woman with lupus .. ?
Who loves ya.

Let's see YOU do the calculations, Rusty. Let's see you get

This idiot has NO success in any medical field. Not one, nowhere.

Women generally have a blood letting each month but
you wouldn't know about that. Plaquinal is fairly
inexpensive so the cost isn't much. get lost
