Oh, Janet, I'm so happy for you that you have found someone who will
actually listen. I have one of those doctors who even allows me to manage my
own health in many ways. He admitted in the beginning that he had very
little knowledge of lupus but he sure does now! It makes such a difference
to have a such a doctor. Maybe now you will get some answers. Diabetes is
considered an autoimmune disease and lupus is just a wiggle down a different
path and they often intersect.
I think the hardest part is living and wondering what the heck is wrong all
the time. The Dx of lupus is no picnic but at least if you have a Dx then
you know what it is and how to proceed. Why don't you print out the check
list for lupus and take that with you to your next visit. And don't forget
to make a list of all your own little "quirks" and problems. You can also
give the doc several internet resources when you see him such as Andy's
pages http://www.northeastlupus.org.uk and the Lupus Foundation
www.lupus.org
I do hope the new insulin works well and you have no problems from it.
Three cheers for you and your new doc. Hip-hip-hooray, hip-hip-hooray,
hip-hip-hooray!
Bev

Thanks Bev, he has one of Norfolk Lupus's posters so I think he will go to
our site anyway, I will start making a list of all my little quirks, it
could take some time!! lol He was very pleased with how I manage my
diabetes anyway so thats a good start, most Drs start out by blaming
everything I go with on that!! It made such a change to be told I was
looking after it well. Thanks again for the advice, I finally feel as
though I'm getting somewhere. Janet

More of an astronomer - I collect the light, but others are the stars
who generate it! The Lupus Factsheets are produced by Lupus UK, and the
Katfaq was written by KCat (wave-of-paw!).
