I am on my second week of Plaquenil, feeling a little better but I am so
sick to my stomach, I am having a hard time eating I try to eat but
nothing is tasting good and I just can't make myself eat it. Even to
smell food cooking make me sick. Now I am not throwing up just feeling
real sick. Heck if I didn't know better I would think that I was going
to have a baby...:-) but I know that I am not.
Did anyone have this and how long did it last?
Thanks,
Linda

Hello everybody
I was diagnosed with Lupus about 2 months ago, and started Plaquenil 1 week
ago. Already I have been sick one morning (just like morning sickness),
and had migraines for 2 days. Today is ok though.

Linda,
When I started Plaquenil, it was 13 years ago. I don't remember being
sick to my stomach although I may have been. But I definitely remember
having the most horrendous headaches of my life. It last about two
weeks if I remember correctly and then the headaches went away. I've
not had any problems with it since.

I started Plaquenil in 1991, and it made me extremely sick. At the
time, the medicine was in a form that was close to the molecule it was
made from....short speak, it was pretty chalky and tasted like you
were going to die. Luckily about 6 mos later they changed the formula
and coated it and I was happy.
Now nausea is one of my favorite symptoms. Seems that anytime I
flair, I start with severe n/v My doc said I could probably puke on
command. So discuss it with your Dr. if it doesnt ease up soon.

I suffer from nausea but it's not Plaquenil related.
Try taking the Plaquenil on a full stomach and at night.
If you're still nauseated, you can try taking Dramamine. There's a less
drowsy version which helped me a lot.
Right now, I take 400mgs Plaquenil all at night and so far, so good.
Good luck

The generic form, hydroxychloroquine, tears up my stomach, If you
are on generic, I recommend asking for the name brand.
