I saw my rheumy yesterday and was very encouraged that she listened to me
when I told her the MTX was making me feel sick half of he week and although
I did have 3 weeks I was symptom free they all came back and I was still
feeling nauseated. I am starting plaquenil. I took two doses so far. I am
taking 200 mg in the am and 200 mg in the pm. I am taking it with food and
have not noticed any nausea but I am feeling tired. But I was feeling tired
before I started plaquenil. I hope this stuff works at least as well as MTX
but without the nausea constantly. I am supposed to continue taking MTX at
half the dose for a month but I do not know if I can stick myself with
another needle. I feel sick just thinking about it.
Thanks for listening,
Janice in BC

Janice,

Talk to Shelagh and a few others about the dose of the plaquenil.  I believe
there is new info stating that it should be lower than most of us were/are
on.  When you get the info from her or on previous posts here on the group
it will be something that you should discuss with your rheumy.

The way you are taking it is the way Plaquenil was prescribed to me.

Sorry about the MTX causing you to feel sick half of the time.  I hope that
you can get your meds figured out and get some relief from the nausea as
well as your pain.

Hugs,
sherry
