Hello,

I am a lupus patient.  I have had lupus for 8 years.  My doctor has started
decreasing my daily doses of predisone.  In the past few months I have been
having very sensitive teeth.  My teeth is sensitive to both hot and cold.  If
you have experienced this same problem and has found something to help with
the sensitivity please write me a note.

Thank you very much!

Sensodyne toothpaste. Biotene toothpaste later; has natural antibiotic
action of our bodies' enzymes. When I had this about 3 tubes of Sensodyne
'cured' the problem. I have no $ interest and don't know how/why it works.

I use colgate sensitive tooth paste, it is a little cheaper then the
sensodyne AT TIMES, so I buy what's on sale.
Biotene is a must. I get sensitive teeth from my medrol and sometimes ya
just "gotta JUMP" when that pain hits ya...

So try both of them, I found both seem to work the same for me.

good luck

My teeth were hurting yesterday.
Some days I wonder about the power of suggestion of reading newsgroup posts.
Or it could be allergies because my nose was itching and I was driving through
allergy central

Maybe not necessarily power of suggestion...
one of my BsIL is a dentist and takes xrays up higher on the facial area
when patients our age come in complaining of sensitive teeth... more often
than not it is sinus related inflammation that is the cause (as was proven
in the xrays in his office on myself and some of my sisters too).
The treatment for that? just 'grin and bear' with it and it will eventually
subside unless you are an allergy ridden type of course (thankfully I am
not!).
One way of discovering if your problem is that is to see if there is more
pain when stepping down firmly (like down stairs or off a stepstool or like
that) so as to 'shake your bones a bit' and the pressure/pain would increase
if it is sinus related.
I too have very sensitive teeth and some recession of gums as well and I too
do use
sensodyne with great success over time..... mine is also caused by
the saliva changes from sjogrens syndrome which allows for gum recession and
more cavity production etc if not on guard... but usually? sinuses are the
culprit for the
upper teeth pain...
my 2 cents worth
J you have an itchy nose?... allergies?..likely scenario for sinus
involvement yes? good luck to everyone on this post!
hugs,
Shelagh
