I was wondering what everyone takes to manage pain. Or anything else they do
that helps.

Pain management is so individual and such a pain in the neck as well, lol!!
What I would suggest is to ask your doctor, your primary care physician, for
a referral to a pain clinic or a pain specialist doctor, whichever you have
where you live and to get on the best regimen that will suit your needs... I
have gone that route as have many others and it is the best for unrelenting
and ongoing chronic pain
.... specialists have their purposes and even though I prefer dealing with
my own doctor with most everything, sometimes you just have to go to someone
who can help you even better and in some cases it will be a specialist
..... good luck!

I am in pain managment. My pain doctor is a family physician. He has a
poor opinion of anethesiologists for pain managment.
I take Avinza (24 hour release of morphine) daily and use Norco for
breakthru. I use a lot of other drugs too.
If you're in CA, I can give you his name.

Thanks for sharing. I have been wondering about pain management and am going
to ask the nurse practitioner next time I go. I am not sure medicaid will
pay for one. Right now I take voltaren, an anti inflammatory. I had an old
script of tramadol that I tried and it seems to work much better.
They are hesitant to give me much here. But I am tired of hurting all the
time.

In general, Medicaid usually will pay for a consult witn a pain clinic
or pain manager to work out a pain management plan, but will send you back
to your PCP for the 2 of you to actually work the plan. But, of course, all
the rules about what will be paid or not varies by state, so -?- If the
plan needs to be changed the PCP can communicate with the pian guy.
I have been very fortunate that my internist /endo. is my PCP and he
works closely with my psych guy, my rheumy, my GI guy, neurologist. Any of
them are open to ideas & suggesstions . It is a real priveledge to work with
a good team all these years (1992)

Hello Margaret,
I have experienced chronic pain for about seven months now due to a
neglected growing ovarian cyst. The pain is intense and unfortunately
my threshold has not been strengthened enough to accept daily doses of
intolerable waves of pure pain shooting through the left side of my
body.
Manage it ? Well, to strengthen the pain threshold I engage in
grounding meditation, hot baths complete with aromatherapeutic candles
(sage, jasmine, lavender, eucalyptus, and myrhh), stretching and
relaxing pelvic and leg muscles, and alot of dreaming to be better, or
at least feel better, eery morning.
And of course there is always my stand-by when all of the above fails:
1 Aleve with two eight oz glasses of water. I discuss the progress of
my treatment at some of my blog pages:

There is also important information on cysts, fibroids, fibromyalgia,
depression & endometriosis found here :

I hope this helps and that we can keep in touch off this board as well
as on.
sharing the light,

yes, I wondered that myself.
Maybe if you described how it went, she'd feel more reassured about taking
care of it.
