%$@#&!* nosebleed!

I've spent most of the past week paying for the light I got
during a trip to the dentist.  Lots of fatigue and other
annoyances before I started to feel better.  Then this
morning I was sitting there, the cat purring on my lap
while I congratulated myself on feeling okay--wham!
My nose started bleeding.  Not only did I get it on the
carpet, I also bled on this fluffy, all-white cat.  Getting
it out of the carpet was hard enough, but have you ever
tried to clean a grumpy seventeen year old cat?  (Yes,
they're self-cleaning--but with Hiss's personality I
definitely do *not* want her to acquire a taste for my
blood.)

The worst part of it came while I was cleaning the carpet.
The cat gave me a look that said "And you get annoyed
when *I* make a mess on the carpet!"

You don't wash your Fluffy Cat?  I do mine in the gentle cycle, with
Woolite.  I let him air dry and he turns out just fine.  Another idea is one
of these new Bissel steam carpet cleaners.  It woudl clean the carpet...
couldnt you just sneak it over on to the cat a little bit"

This is all in good fun, I love my cats

I use hydrogen peroxide to clean up spots from the carpet. Just the
drugstore variety. Not the stronger beauty supply stuff.
I don't have a fluffy cat but your wash and dry hints sound good. Wende

Hmmm . . . how do you keep the washing maching from getting
out of balance?  I only have the one cat, so I couldn't put a
second cat in the load to keep the tub from getting unbalanced.
It's especially difficult because everyone says that Hiss is the
most unbalanced cat they've ever see.

I'd try, but she knows where I sleep.

Same here.  In fact, all three of Hiss's previous owners loved her.

Maybe you could just borrow a stray cat from the neighborhood.  Look, it
doesn't even have to be a cat.  Any small children around that are about the
size of  Hiss?  It might really help Hiss to get into balance once and for
all.

Best of Luck

How big is a groundhog? - it's their day.

Hey, I have a Hiss too only his name is Frodo. You shoulda seen my shredded
hands from squirting Advantage for cats on his neck last summer. Ya'know - I
rescued him from starvation (literally), give him love, food & pets - don't
you think he'd be the least bit grateful?! Have you ever had a flea crawling
around on your scalp & you can't get it? Do you want Frodo to balance your
washer? I have another rescue too, Yellow, but he likes to lick my teeth so
I don't have to brush them. He's a keeper.

Hiss only weighs five and a half pounds, so it would be hard to
find a child that small, or even another cat that size.  I suppose
I could use a poodle or other yappy little dog for a counterweight.
If so, I want credit for being the first man to discover a use for
little dogs!

I tried that, and it didn't get the blood out of the carpet (which needed
cleaning anyway).  Several other things didn't work, either.  Fortunately
the Stanley Steemer company makes a spot remover (cleverly named
"Spot Remover") which removed the stains but not the carpet.  I hope
nobody else needs this particular information.

Hey Bill, I hear ya. I got this stuff called 'PeePee' to, of course, take
out urine odors. I had to wonder tho . . . WHY is it called PeePee; does it
remove or add? We have a paraplegic Beagle that drags around &, you guessed
it, pees everywhere. I've tried diapers with the back cut out for his tail,
rigged harnesses, etc. but he drags out of everything. My carpet cleaner & I
are attached at the hip. Unfortunately, PeePee didn't take my carpet away
either.

It wasn't "bad" so much as "annoying."  I'm sure the
cat enjoyed laughing at me.

I know it's really not funny but this string of posts is the best I've read
in a long time.

I do hope your nose bleed is now under control. Have you checked your blood
pressure?

Are you the one who live around the corner from me in NN/HPT?

My blood pressure is fine, thank you.  My best guess is that the
nosebleeds have something to do with ulcerations/sores/whatever
inside my nostrils. They only start after I've had too much light
or taken a too-hot shower.

> Are you the one who lives around the corner from me in NN/HPT?

I live in northern Utah.
