That would be most unusual - and getting the diagnosis makes it highly
likely that you'll get the correct treatment.
Read things; come back here and ask questions; and avoid direct
sunlight.

You have found a wonderful place for support and information. Andy is so
right about the staying out of the sun, another thing that will be
helpful is to start a journal any other symptom's or other things that
you have been feeling. I have been battling lupus for almost eight years
and when first diagnosed allot of my symptoms didn't have allot in
common ,but I had a great family doctor and she put it together fast.
So as Andy said read the info and come here anytime for questions and
support you will find it.
Good Luck

Good point - especially as some symptoms are caused by something you did
(or that happened to you) several days beforehand.

Hello Brenda and welcome.
This is a nice group for support and sometimes lots of chuckles too.
I gather they do the bloodwork to rule out systemic Lupus (SLE)
http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/ASLFAQ/symptoms.htm#discoid
I suppose discoid is difficult to cope with because there's outward signs
whereas with SLE, some bemoan the fact that they "look so good" (blush on
the face) people don't take their symptoms seriously. Can't win with one nor
the other.
We usally tell people to watch out for health insurance increases/high rates
or not able to get health insurance, with a Lupus diagnosis, but I don't
know if that happens, if the diagnosis clearly reads "Discoid". Maybe it
does, if some of the medicines are the same. I'll post a Discoid Lupus
website separately.
Hope all goes well with the rheumie.
Keep in touch
