My wooden ladder broke a week ago.
It's soooooooooooooo old, it has white hair <g> and isn't repairable.
New ones are expensive.
So last night I waded through the classified ads and I think I found some
6 footers...
for $25 each or $20 each for 2
Yippee !!
Just gotta go get them in the big city, one day this week.
That's my CGT
:)))

Hmmm. I'd be wary of cheap new or second-hand wooden (or indeed metal)
ladders. I'd worry about the standards they were made to, and the use
and abuse they had been subjected to. Also I have a problem that I'm
sure you do not - wearing suitable protective clothing and carrying the
hedge-trimmer, I weigh about 240lb. Most domestic ladders aren't rated
for such a load!

I had the old one 20 years. It was given to me "used". They were afraid of it.

He had 2 beauts. Note the "had". They're on the porch now.

I hear ya. I'll compare the steps to the old one, but they're solid, not
rickety the way the old one was.
Speaking of which, I was looking for a painter and wallpaper-er and a UK guy
named Andy was referred to me. He said he was keen to make a name here (having
just moved to this country a year or so ago).
He finally came and quoted me. I've got a new name for him ! Another woman was
even worse -- $2800.00 for 2 rooms (including some fancy  wallpaper, that
hides flaws, but needs painting to be washable). sheesh..all I want is vinyl
wallpaper.
So I'm still  looking...are you coming to Canada anytime soon ;-)

Bring 2 helpers to bail; that would be 3 men in a leaky tub

:)  I don't think i've seen a wooden ladder in well.. a number of years. :)
I want (note, want, not need) a Cosco folding kitchen stool/ladder.  A new
home deserves a quaint bit of nostalgia like that right?  Only problem - the
white is rather ugly.  But the yellow or red don't fit in my *white* kitchen
(which is lovely).  i think it's because the white has white legs and
everything while the red and yellow have plain stainless (or chrome?).  But
i've yet to justify the cost.  So i have a hideous, paint-splattered
step-ladder leaning against the refrigerator for now. :P

My CGToTD - i hit the local stitchery which is going out of business and
stocked up on a bunch of stuff for 30% off everything.  happy stitchin'
kitty.

Saw its legs off and paint it?
What are you looking for a step-stool?
With a back that can be sat on?
There seems to be a Retro Black Chair with Step Stool $39.99 at costco, but yes
it has chrome or stainless less.
There's one at ikea - it says it can be sanded for surfacing.

don't know if that will work or not.
I typed ikea stepstool into Google search and it was the first one
Paint it black and white squares? $9.99

Yup.  Like the one in my grandmother's kitchen for umpteen years.

Made by Cosco (vs. Costco) and usually found in red, "banana", or white.
Black would definitely  not work for my all white kitchen.  I suppose unless
i wanted contrast.  Which I don't.  It's a classic.  Only the one in my
family was "Avocado" as were so many things in the late 60s. ;)

Alvacado or harvest gold!  Boy, the 60's were something else!

I wonder if the legs are paintable? Enamel paint or car paint?
Cdn tire has touch up paint, not as good quality as the real car paint.
Just a thought.
I saw yuur stepstool...in my dreams and it was lovely :)

What a deal J. At least now I know there is no risk of you plunging to the
ground. There is nothing like a deal. What a great CGT!!
