I know we all experience fatigue with our SLE. I want to know some of your
ideas on helping me fight it. It seems like everyday at work, I die in front
of my computer. I have got to bring up my energy level somehow. I have too
much to do and too many deadlines at work.

I have tried vitamins, more exercise, cannot drink caffeine, cold water, and
even taking a nap at lunch. but none of these on a steady basis. Maybe I
give up too soon. I am sleeping better at night and my heart palpitations
since the reduction of synthroid, has calmed down. Thank Goodness! Just
seems like I am always dragging. I am wondering if it is more mental than
physical. However, I did get exposed to more sun than I should have two
weeks ago. I am also working on a huge project which is getting old fast. A
68 page catalog. And I am battling a bladder infection. What else! Ha Ha

Any suggestions or ideas?

Many Hugs,
Paulette

How much light do you get from your CRT?  I've noticed that after I fry
myself, the effects of otherwise small amounts of light seem to increase.
Maybe that's causing trouble for you now.

Maybe you could put some of that UV-filtering window plastic over your
monitor.
(*Now* I think of that, after I got the new LCD monitor.)

Bill,
I have never thought of that. Could be. However, I am a graphic artist. Any
changing of colors on my monitor would not be good for what I do.
So you are thinking that the Boob tube I am staring at is bad for me. I have
only been doing this for 25 years. Wonder if it is an accumulative thing?

Thanks,
Paulette

I did a Google search with keywords UV filter window clear, and some
some companies make untinted UV filter-films.  I don't know if their idea of
"clear" is good enough for your needs, though, or what the plastic might do
with glare and reflectivity issues.  If you don't need to have a clear view
of the
colors all the time, you might make a frame to hang over your monitor and
stretch the plastic over that, and take it off when you need an unobstructed
view.  If the monitor is the problem, some protection is better than none.

I know what you mean, I can only stand about half an hour at a time on here,
before I am exhausted and struggling with burning up and headache.   Hope
you can find a simple solution, seeing its affecting your job.  Good luck

Have you tried PROVIGIL?  It has helped me tremendously.  It is an
anti-narcolepsy drug.....

Hola,

I second the PROVIGIL.  It has been a life saver for me.  It's costly
if your insurance does not pay for it as mine does not.  I pay 240.00
for 30, 200mg pills BUT I only take 1/2 a day because I found that if I
take a whole pill, it does the opposite for me, it drains me.

You ought to consider it.  I hate the fact that I have to take a pill
for energy BUT, at this point with Lupus, it does not look as if I'll
have "normal" energy again.

Hope you find what you need,

Paulette, I understand completely.  I also have SLE and severe sleep
apnea.  The sleep apnea is now under control, but I'm completely
exhausted no matter how much sleep I get.  My doctor has put me on
Adderall XR 30 mg.  This is most commonly used for kids with ADD as it
is a stimulant.  In kids it causes them to slow down.  In adults it
does the reverse.  It has done wonders for me!  If I miss a day I'm
miserable.  Some doctors aren't to keen on prescribing amphetamines,
but without it I'd probably just jump off the building.  That is if
someone would help me to get up there

Until then, try intravenous Starbucks.

Hey all,

I appreciate all of your suggestions. The only thing I cannot do the
Starbucks thing because I have to stay away from Caffeine or any kind of
stimulant is because of my heart problems. I am thinking it has something to
do with my diet and no exercise. And I am bored at work which doesn't help
much.
And maybe a little burnt out too. Time for a vacation. But like always then
I need a vacation from my vacation. My husband never wants to just rest.
It's lets go somewhere or do a project.   And Christmas is just around the
corner. Sigh.......

I also think its not fair when he can pass out in front of the TV but I have
too many things to do like, wash clothes, dishes, dinner, feed dog, etc. And
look at all the dust in the house. Ha Ha.

Cheers,
Paulette
