I guess we are still waiting to hear from Kcat. I'll feel better once she's
checked in with all of us.

Same here - but I am certain that as soon as she can, she will. (And if
you think about it there's no point in emailing her!) Her home area is
in the "await further instructions" zone - eg the road underpasses are
still flooded, power dodgy etc.

Plus on top of it they were moving and that may be a delay in power
being turned on. This whole thing has been a nightmare. We actually had
more damage at my brother in laws house than here at our house. And we
had never lost power here but Ricky's Lake house lost it right away and
probably still not on. I think this was the most worrisome and
unpredictable storm just 100 miles west and we would be in trouble.
Waiting to hear from Kcat too.

When Isabel ripped through here, we were without power for several days. We
were fine, we still had running water and we even had our phone - just no
one else on the block had a phone. In fact, everyone's cell phones were all
out as the towers had been hit. But like I said we were fine. Cold showers
are a bit much to handle but a couple of cans of sterno kept us happy with
hot coffee. LOL It's amazing what we can do without.

I just hope Kcat's brand new house has had no damage and she's just hanging
around with no power or phone. Maybe this will force her to slow down and
not over do it. (Geez, do you think some people need a hurricane to make
them slow down and take it easy?)

I thought the move was supposed to be last weekend. :-/ I feel very sorry
for her under the circumstances. It could be a while before she could even
schedule a moving company to move everything and we still don't know if
either place sustained any damage. All we can do is cross our fingers and
wait.

hi all..

we just got home about an hour ago and are unpacking yet packing at the same
time.

in short.  we were supposed to move Friday.  that's been postponed because
of Rita.  until we move, I will have some time during the day to catch up
here and there but not much.  After that - i don't know how long it will be
before I can get back on-line.

But we are fine, both homes are fine (the one we're in, the one we're moving
to) and i must get back to trying to get to some semblance of "normal" life
for a while.

we were 23 hours on the freeway to Dallas, only 7 hours to get back home.  i
will say this only for now as the details are still a bit hard for me to
cope with emotionally - it was a horrific drive.

thanks all for caring about all of us down here.  we were all so blessed
that Rita pulled her punch.  but we are sure not going to let our guards
down either.  next time, we'll leave earlier.

love you all,
kcat

Thanks KCat for letting us all know that you are safe.  The trip sounds
like a nightmare.  Hope you can rest up a little before the move    ruth

Hi KCat,
How good to know that you made it home and that both houses are in good
shape. Now I can rest easy.

So glad that you are home and that you and family are safe.  I'm sure that
this has been the nightmare from hell.  Get some rest and take care of
yourself and family.

Hugs,
Sherry

I am so happy to hear from you. Yes, I got the email. You take care and
check in once you get your new internet connection and maybe before if you
can. Just glad to hear you are alright and so are both houses.

Glad your home Kcat, my friend and family had a horror of a trip 70
miles in 17 hours turned back and stayed in Spring with her sister. I
have heard some nightmare stories I am sorry you were stuck in that.
So glad your home.
