Ok So I got the cellulitis under control. Can't express how happy I am
to see my feet and ankles again  lol.
But the  hand is driving me nuts. In early June I broke my left index
finger. Now mind you just the top two knuckles caught it in the door in
the house not car. Didn't hurt right off but next day was huge and I
thought ok something is wrong. Now thinking in classic Lupie fashion I
thought well my daughter is going to fam dr on friday ( this being
monday) I will show it to her then. I iced it it was painful but have a
high threshold for pain I handled it it swelled more I iced it elevated
it. So go on friday of course need x-rays it's what is called a crushed
fracture. Top two knuckles. She sends me to Hand dr. he says tape it to
next finger and bend them when ever I can to make swelling go down. Ok
That part goes ok but thumb and wrist and up to elbow start to hurt
and swell..
Now weird thin is and I told both Drs finger is really sensitive to heat
hot water stirring wheel I live in Texas, anything hot. And as wrist
swells and elbow as well I start to get red patches on my arm up to elbo
they hurt. Can't touch them to anything clothing, brush up against
anything so on. the knuckles slowly one at a time turn red and feel like
hit by sledge hammer.
So now almost 3 months later it is a real cycle at night I will feel a
twinge like mild arthritis in a knuckle and then the next day that
finger and one next to it will be swollen like 3 times size. This week
end was every finger but the one that was broken to begin with it is the
only one that is not doing this silly stuff. Elbow has lump and always
hurt's.
Now as I had said before my neurologist had prescribed Neurontin to
see if would help. i did try just the bottom line dose and did not see
any help just felt woozy.
So I called her yesterday as I had follow up on the 19 to check this out
but I can not wait i can not use my hand I am doing everything one
handed  which I am getting better at and even though I am right handed
you would be surprised how much you use your left hand , drive throughs,
just a bunch of stuff. My Grandmother was naturally left handed and in
her era ( she was born 1894) that was not allowed so she had to change
to right so she was completely ambidextrous. You could not tell the
difference when she wrote. Well she taught me alot of stuff knitting,
sewing, braiding so on nd I guess I never realized just how much I
picked up left handed even batting, she taught me. She was an amazing
lady, one of 9 kids put her self through college amazing in it's self
considering the era, And was a secretary for silent film industry in
Chicago til she married my Grampa. Anyway. I am going to dr this am and
see what can be done. I can live with out alot but I need both hands.
So moral of story don't put off anything that hurt's more than natural
child birth.
The nurse asked me yesterday how much does it hurt and I said I gave
birth to 2 beautiful children completely natural and this hurts more.

Holy crap Cindy.  First off "who in the "heck" typed all that for you, or
did it take you all of yesterday to do it???hehehe  JUST joking now.

See If I got this, the "elbow" on the arm where the fingers got broke is
swollen with a lump?  Did they do xrays of the whole arm?

Boy I feel badly for you.  That has to hurt yet and with anything broken in
the past it still has a tendency to swell up.  sounds funny but the
circulation in that hand was compromised so maybe that is why the swelling
too.

Are you still getting the Patches on that hand yet? or was this something
that happened months ago and not back.   I take it the pain hits at night?
Maybe that is because you are using it during the day.

Did the doc ever mention a small splint to wear at night to maybe help
that?  I know with carpal tunnnel and with peripheral neuropathy too
sometimes for me a small over the counter splint will help.  It spreads the
wrist out and the fingers a little better too.  My whole hand sometimes
goes numb...

How long were you on the neurotin?   And yes it makes you woozy but you
need to take it at night, did you?  And the woozey ness will leave they
say.  I took that drug and it made me a "terrible B" so I quit it....never
again...heheh  YOu know I ain't a "B" haha

sounds like maybe the cellulitis might of went UPWARD too.  Just a thought.
YOU still on antibiotics?  Maybe need more for awhile to keep those legs
good and that hand better.   OH and keep that hand out of where it
shouldn't be......<BG>
let me know what the doc says

RSD ( anyone else had any trouble with this) is what they whole heatedly
agree. I am researching it as we speak an it is the perfect decrepition
of my hand to elbow The acute version  crazy stuff when a trauma happens
to peoples like us with lots a troubles like CNS Lupus it can cause this
she wants me to go to pain guy and have an eeg this week. They just now
gave me patches for my pain so Janers is my Physic friend lol Also they
are going to have me go to therapy for the edema / cellulitis.  I am
still on double antibiotic and will be. This looks like a real pain in
the butt  ok nuff whining time to deal.
And you would really giggle if you saw me typing one finger on right
hand I never took typing and actually typed better with left till now
THANK GOODNESS FOR SPELL CHECK!!
