A friend of mine is battling ovarian cancer. This gal is not what I would
call a close friend as we don't run in the same crowd but still I'd call her
a friend and she has always been a wonderful colleague. She's always kept a
huge vegetable garden. Well, half way through this summer she discovered her
cancer. She's had a complete hysterectomy and is undergoing chemo
treatments. A bunch of us got together this morning and weeded and harvested
her garden. Thank goodness the temps were decent and the sun was not too
strong. We all belong to the same organization so everyone knows my
limitations. I harvested while they weeded and did the harder stuff. It felt
good to be in a big garden in the early morning and it was fun to be working
with friends.
Then I felt guilty about my own garden so I spent the day weeding and using
Roundup. Now I'm very tired but happy to be able to do something nice for
someone.
