Hi everyone just wondered what any of you do for really swollen feet. I
have had this going on for while usually they go down after a day or so
but not this time.
I am being good about my diet no salt, so on I am following my Endo's
diet but they just are huge and I am not sure should I call someone and
who.
sorry I am just a little frustrated.
Thanks Cindy W.
Hi Cindy,
First off you are on NO salt already? What do you call the "endo" diet
and what is it. I think it is your GI track? Explain please?
The second, ok third thing LOL, do you have any kidney problems with your
health? EVER have? Are you having burning, any blood? Usually when legs
or ankles swell and it is bothersome, then if it is NOT the salt, it might
be kidney's or you bp.....
I suggest you elevate your legs as much as possible, if that doesn't work
for you, push more fluids too. i know that sound dumb cause you are
swollen already but it helps get rid of waste that cause swelling....
And if your feet DO NOT GO DOWN in am when first getting UP? call your
doctor. If you have a kidney, call doc, if a rheumy instead or that, call
him. IF you have a cardiologist get a bp check and call HIM. It is a hit
and miss thing here.
But IF the swelling DOES NOT GO DOWN in am? Get to any one of your docs is
the thing here. But if they go down when first UP in morning, then watch
when they swell. You might then want to mention it to the doc when you see
him or her next time.
The point is, after much of MY rambling :) is swelling happens during the
day from meds, food, canned goods and what not, so they should go down in
am after being off your feet. IF NOT then you got a problems going on.
Let me know will you
I sure hope to heck I did NOT confuse you did I?
hugs

Thanks Janers and these are the things that have bothered me they are
only slightly down and still hard to put on shoes before meds and
breakfast.
BP is good never any kidney involvement GI has been rough but always is
new endo has me drinking more ensures pushing more fruit like bananas
apples etc I have always been careful on salt hubby hates it but I even
have cut out the canned "no salt items" I always have a bottle of water
in my hand so I am pushing fluid
I have always dealt with this but the last month has been they are
swelling as soon as I am upright. I keep them up and I walk a little I
have spots on my shins where yellowish fluid is seeping out.
Anyway thank Janers

You sound like you might be developing a cellulitis. If your legs are
seeping, then CALL the doc. This is not a good thing and infections can
indeed mess up.
Did you check the sodium content of ensure????? Apples have a lot of
sodium in them too, from what others say.
If you wait on them there LOL legs you will have a mess lady...please???

I feel dumb did not even look at that on the ensure just assumed since
endo wanted me to drink it was ok I am slipping He was just concerned
because I absorb so little most thing go right through.
This is the first I have had seeping and the shins are discolored as
well as feet I am very careful keeping all clean and iodine on them too.
I called Rheumy today,, they will call back tomorrow
I will see Family Doc if can't get in to rheumy till next week, it can
be a wait
Thanks for your help
Love Cindy

Cindy there are other drinks like ensure that are lower in sodium. I
would call your drug store and have them find some for you. But you DO
need some in your body and if you are not eating with it, then that amount
of sodium may not be too much.
Ask your doc and bring him a can cause they don't know right then and there
LOL

Yes I am going to look at differant ones I don't usually eat anything
with them I have been drinking them as little snacks when I feel weak
mid day or afternoon.
I am going to Family Doc at 1:00 the nurse said would be earlier but
she wouldn't be in till 1 today my family dr os so good she will get on
top of it.
Thanks again for your help I never would have thought of celluitis, I
was not familiar with it but after looking up on here it is exactaly how
my legs and feet look and feel.

Hi Cindy,
That does not sound like anything you should leave. I am glad you have a
call in to the rheumy, but best to see the family doctor if you can't get an
appt until next week. Let us know what they find.

Ok Janers you are amazing you hit it right on the head, good news is I
am on a daily dose of Keflex so it had not gotten bad. My family dr and
rheumy have had me on that for almost two years due to the lung /
respritory stuff so saved me again.
We bumped it up to 4 a day for a week and prescribed a spray to be
applied twice a day. Also a dieuretic just for a short time to help. So
I am going to have a quiet weekend and behave till this is all cleared
up (0;
Thanks again Janers I never would have thought of that and probably
would delayed dr if you had not mentioned it.
love Cindy

USDA says apples contain no sodium whatsoever.
In general fresh frut and veggies are all low in sodium ( I think
tomatoes contain a bit more than most) it is the processed foods,
tinned especially, which contain a lot of sodium. Diet foods and Junk
foods" do contain quite a bit, to make them taste nicer. Most fruit and
veg are good sources of potassium, bananas in particular.

Tis my fault here. Apples are sodium, fat and cholesterol free.
My mistake but I was thinking of the apple was a flavor of the ensure and
that would not be low sodium unless stated on the can.
My boo boo and I am truely sorry, thanks herbworm for noting that.....

Hi Cindy,
I know you said your feet are getting better but I had another look at
this problem you have, and I see you say you "always have a bottle of
water
in my hand" . I know we are constantly told to drink more water, but
did you know that for some kinds of kidney trouble it can be dangerous
to drink water to excess?
Maybe you should check this out next time you see your doc.
Also you say "hard to put on shoes before meds", do you need to put
your shoes on? I only put shoes on when I go outside. I have worm holes
in lots of pairs of socks because of this! No matter how comfortable
the shoes are they still restrict my feet.
I am also interested in this endo diet you mention, can you tell us
more about it?
Hope your feet continue to improve!

hi yes I do have to go out I take my daughter to school monday through
friday at 6;45 am. She goes to a hugh school at least 1000 kids per
class i have been taking my kids to school forever as they can end up on
the bus for over an hour if they rode it, I do it for my peace of mind
as much as her safety.
I have the same problem with shoes and finding ones that fit.
The food... they wanted me to be more aware of how I prepare it like
grill or boil chicken which I already did more fish I am not much of a
meat eater and my husband has hemochromatosis so we do not eat much red
meat at all, it is blood disorder that raises your iron ( quick discript
can be bad for liver has to go every 3 months to oncologist)
they actually said for me to eat eggs boiled or scrambled and cereals
and of all things peanut butter like a spoonful everyday I don't absorb
alot due to stomach problems so this is for the protein he said
. Then all the fruit and fresh or frozen veggies I want.
Said to watch the breads make sure whole grain. No I love potatoes short
redheaded irish girl here I can live on them o they said pick when I
really want some so I don't have many but they help when my stomach is
really bad only almost the only thing I could eat when I was on the
cytoxon.
As a kid I was always told mash potatoes will help your tummy.
Anyway that's basically it. Some day I really just don't want to eat.
I saw my neurologist for the hand thing yesterday and they want mt to do
some therapy on my legs so I will ask them about the water thanks.
This RSD stuff looks like a real stinker
