Hi guys..it's been a long day, but I wanted to update you all really quick.
Dana (my sister in law) got out of the hospital today. She's about 10
pounds lighter and looks really tired, but she's feeling a lot better than
she did when she went in. BTW..the tests came back. It wasn't meningitis
after all the docs say. (About time that they clued in) I had asked them
about the possibility of Sjogren's in Feb the first time she got sick after
someone here said her symptoms sounded similar...the doc told me that I
should be careful about what I read on the internet because there are too
many people relying on self diagnosis. I thought that it was a suggestion
and at least deserved being looked at, but he declined. Now, THAT's what
they've diagnosed her illness as. I was floored when Dana told me tonight.
I give credit where credit is due though. At least they kept her there this
time until she was feeling better and ran ALL of the tests.
They let her come home the last time while they were still giving her
antibiotics through IV. The downside of having a way too stressed health
care system here in NFLD during the peak of flu season. But, she's doing
alright and she's certainly cheering up.
I just thought some of you would like to know how she was doing. We're all
very excited to have her home and her little one was REALLY excited. I
expect that he's going to have a lot of things to show Mommy tomorrow. LOL.
Thanks to everyone who's emailed me during the last couple of weeks.

Hi Karla, I have to take the rap on that.
It was too easy.
You described the dryness.
She was in hospital, so I concluded she wasn't dehydrated
and her younger age made her not a "dried out prune", so there was only one
thing left.
It's a shame he wouldn't listen. Perhaps she'd have been home earlier and NFLD
health system wouldn't be so stressed.
Sometimes, if I think of it, I say "do you have warnings about the library too?
<g>
Having said all that, yes, taking guesses can lead a patient down the proverbial
garden path of one test after another and usually it's best to leave it to
doctors to figure out what is or isn't happening.
Hugs

Thanks. It's been hard with Dana being so sick for so much of this year. I
have to tell you guys that I appreciate all of the support I get on here.
It really helps a lot. Take Care everyone. I'll keep you updated as things
progress to a hopefully healthier state for her.
