Diane Fblooms - 05 Mar 2005 16:17 GMT Hi everyone, I just jumped in a bit ago but didn't introduce myself at the time. I posted an intro in the LDN thread but am adding a bit here so I can introduce myself in a separate post to get to know all a bit better.
I have Lupus, Lyme with the co-infection Babes (for short), allergy problems, and GP (Gastroparesis). Aside from all that and the digestion/fatigue problems it brings, I have many interests. I am now doing acrylic painting and just started going to art ledge and Mac PC meetings.
My last name isn't Fblooms, that is the name of my site page. I have a profile page on my site that has a bit of an intro. I got the name Fblooms when I picked my e-mail address. Fblooms stands for flower blooms. I picked this because I love flowers. Since than I have been told that Fblooms could stand for faith blooms which I thing is very fitting to my site. It is about much more but that was the purpose for my starting the site. My most visited pages are the daily verse page and my freebie pages. I have the link to my site at the bottom here. It isn't my original site it is a new site where I'm moving everything to little by little. The original isn't PC compatible. If you do a Google search for Fblooms you can see that site as well. Since I recently found out I do have Lupus when I was told otherwise my site doesn't mention Lupus much at this time. I am ever updating though and adding to the site.
I would love to hear of all your interests.

Diane Fblooms - 05 Mar 2005 16:54 GMT BJ thanks for mentioning that it would be a good idea to redo my intro.
This is in reply to Herb's post in the LDN thread.
Herb wrote: Hi, I have other interests too and also Macs are one of them. I was fortunate to be introduced to Macs many years ago and have been a Mac Addict ever since, so if you want to post about Macs you will have my ear! ....
My reply: I know little about a Mac right now so what ever you posted about them would be much more of interest. I did take a getting started class to get an idea though.
Herb wrote: I am also a foodie and natural health enthusiast. I sometimes post here about my vegan diet, which I believe helps my lupus ...I also like making things from recycled materials! Unfortunately I have developed co-ordination problems and neuropathy in my hands so I am not very good at it, but I do it anyway.....
Reply: You sound like a person that's fun to be around with your crafty nature. I love your spirit of doing things anyway even when things are not as easy as they were.
Herb wrote: I do a bit of gardening ... I have some houseplants and I grow sprouts to eat, mustard seeds and mung beans mostly. I tried a mushroom kit once but they didn't grow!
I also do volunteer work with adult literacy students once a week.
Reply: Being a dyslexic person, I really value the work you are doing with adult literacy. After many years of self work I do pretty good but my memory is bad though. I just wanted to mention that so people won't be hurt when I can't remember many details.
As for you diet, that is great you can eat as you wish like this. I eat what my body tells me I can handle at any given time. So I'm glad I ate what ever I wanted to when I was able to. I use to grow my own sprouts too but I can't digest such things now since beans are not as easy food to digest. I'm wondering about the mustard seeds though, that might work if I cut them up and put them in soup, let me know more about them and where I could get the seeds if I decide to give them a try.

BJ - 05 Mar 2005 18:22 GMT Hi Diane, Thank you for the intro. Now I can officially welcome you. It is quiet here on weekends, so you may not get a lot of replies until next week. Just wanted to let you know about that. I will tell you some things about myself as soon as I get a chance. Sounds like you lots of interests. We have talked about hobbies here a few times. Maybe you will get the ball rolling again. BJ-Sk. Canada Hi everyone, I just jumped in a bit ago but didn't introduce myself at the time. Diane Fblooms - 05 Mar 2005 19:22 GMT Beverley - 13 Mar 2005 18:18 GMT I'm a little late in replying but.... "Hello and welcome!"
I live in an old house and we are constantly doing something to it. And just when we think we are on track something happens we're weren't planning on tackling. It's a never ending situation. I did just get my new oven last weekend and now I'm actually enjoying the cooking, again.
I love to paint but never have time for it. Maybe someday I'll go back to it but right now the only thing getting painted are the walls in this house. Right now we are talking about putting a tin ceiling up in the kitchen and what color to paint it. Color is always an interesting discussion as my hubby is so color blind but he sees something just not what we see. LOL
I volunteer through my local cooperative extension offices in horticulture. My specialty is Victorian gardens and other historical gardens. I was the head gardener for a private estate for years and rebuilt the gardens there. I also love to take pictures of flowers. I just got a new camera and when I figure out how to use it I'll be getting pics out to everyone, I promise!!!
My girls are grown and both remarried this past year adding three step-grandchildren giving us a total of 5 grandchildren My husband is still here at my side although he's battled cancer, hopefully won and will remain at my side for many many years to come. Bev

> Fblooms Diane Fblooms - 14 Mar 2005 03:51 GMT Thanks so much for posting on two folds. First I got to know you better and you have had some interesting life that I have enjoyed reading about especially the gardening and painting part.
And also for the fact you gave me something to post to, I haven't seen anything I had something to say to for a bit and I was hoping no one thought I took off somewhere.
I would of loved of had the chance to do the gardening and life's work you did. I got sick pretty early, actually I was never very healthy and I was not that good in school. I don't paint much either with my fatigue and health problems but I'm glad I have it to work on when I can and it gave me a chance to start to go to art ledge meetings, I will go to my second meeting this coming Tuesday.
I will surely read you post again it was that interesting. I hope to get to know you better.
I just found out about freecycle.org. I just love it so I wanted to mention it but because I don't drive much I don't get a lot of the things I'd like that are offered. I'm hoping to get some plant cuttings going so I can post them to give away. I just can't wait until this snow gets out of here and those spring flowers bud open. Already my daffodils are up all budded and just waiting for a bit more sun. It is my favorite time of year when all the spring flowers start to give their own parade.
We had two storms last week, one was on Wednesday and was a good size storm and than two days later we had another storm. The last storm I was going out to my car for an appointment when I got a beautiful sight before me. As I was walking to the car I eyed about 20 - 30 big plump robins in the berry bush right in front of my car and in another bush a few cars down. The snow was falling lightly just enough to make the birds a little hard to see. I was only about 4 - 5 feet from them but they didn't fly off and didn't seem shy at all. I have never been that close to a robin, I saw the feather pattern on their chest and it was beautiful to be that close to them. I could even see them pick off the red berries and swallow them. The bush was just twigs and berries so there wasn't anything obstructing my view of them other than the snow.
I was enjoying this so much but wished I had someone, anyone to share this with. My neighbor came out his door for a smoke, a new neighbor I don't know. Long story short he was in awe when I showed him the birds and was surprised when I told him he could walk right up to them. He asked if he should get his camera and I said yes like I was saying please. He took some pictures; I hope they come out great and he shows them to me and I get a copy of a picture or two some how. I want to paint them.

Nell - 14 Mar 2005 08:08 GMT > Thanks so much for posting on two folds. First I got to know you better > and you have had some interesting life that I have enjoyed reading about [quoted text clipped - 50 lines] > > Fblooms <http://www.geocities.com/fblooms/menugeo.html> Oh, I hope the pictures come out and you get to see them, too!
I like to read, mostly biographies and autobiographies and history. Am reading Corrie Ten Boom's "In My Father's House" (the years before the Hiding Place).
I'm no hand at gardening. I'm death to plants. I do enjoy looking at gardens and what grows in the wild.
I'm a member of a Freecycle list, too, and like you, because I don't drive I can't get to a lot of the things. It's kind of fun to see the kinds of things that get offered.
Nell
Diane Fblooms - 14 Mar 2005 13:43 GMT I read the Hiding Place and seen the movie but I didn't know about this other book (or forgot), it must be wonderful to read all about her life like that. Did you buy it or get it from the library?
I have books I haven't even read, Help Yourself is one by Dave Pelzer and I'd love to read the rest of his books. I've read the first 2 or three he had out. I really haven't come across many other good books on child abuse. The rest of his books are more on his recovery so I want to ge to them but never do. I have some Christian books that are unread too. I have done a few book reviews, the Climbing Higher book by Montel Willams is one, at Amazon so I did get a few books read along the way. I don't have MS like him but I do have Lyme so some things are simular. I really liked that book because it was real about how hard it can get with a serious illness. I am getting a lot of free magazines from a free site so I read those, they are easier for me to read because they put in short very interesting articles.
Right now I'm trying to get a PC in my home or the one I have working better. I have a freecycle, lol, PC but it was really not working well when I got it and all I've done it work on it. Right now both disk drives are shot. I have been going into a PC group and I think they are going to help me fix this thing. Oh, boy a chance to learn how!!! So I'm reading about PC's and decided I want an Apple if I get that chance. I guess I didn't get the free one I put in for with FC because I haven't heard anything yet but I'm still hoping until I see that Taken post.

Glad to hear your husband's free of cancer now, Bev. You forgot the fence, the county fair and how's schooling going? We haven't heard much from you about that. Busy lady, I did not know you did gardens. My grandfather did. Lovely and multi-talented too !
Diane Fblooms - 14 Mar 2005 15:22 GMT I hope your husband stays healthy now, I know what that is like a bit first hand, there's been a lot of cancer in my family.
Lucky for me I think my mom had it because of the hormones she was taking and I don't plan on taking them. My grandmother was up in age so it doesn't mean it is in my genes to get it. My dad died of lung cancer but he smoked for years before quiting and what actually took him was asbestos poisoning from when he took some of the stuff out of his home instead of doing it right. He has been gone 3 years and 3 months now.
I wanted to let you know I hope you get pictures on here, what an uplift to all of us that would be. Too bad your husband can't see all those flower colors. My dad when he first started his business, he was a Locksmith, worked out of the house. A customer came in and same some of my mom's crocheting and committed on how beautiful the piece was but said he couldn't see the colors because he was color blind but I believe he said he could see a few colors a bit but couldn't tell green from blue. It was the first time I was exposed to someone that was color blind. Is your husband totally color blind?
That tin ceiling sounds so beautiful.

While I'm here, could you please have a look at your webtv settings and follow these instructions.. http://expita.com/nomime.html#webtv How to Set Up a Signature and Remove HTML coding Thanks much.
Diane Fblooms - 15 Mar 2005 17:55 GMT Thanks for letting me know. Is it ok to put a sig on with no html codes? Would it be ok for example if I put in my sig to visit my site by going to Google and typing in the name or is no sig allowed, I was unsure on that?
Diane
anon - 15 Mar 2005 20:58 GMT > Thanks for letting me know. Is it ok to put a sig on with no html > codes? Yes. The issue was that yours was in html, not the fact that you had a signature.
If it shows up as http://www. most people only have to click on it (or copy and paste it into their browser "address box")

I hope that answers the question, since I don't know webtv software.

This allows compliant news clients to automatically strip the sig in a reply. Note, this also means that if your software inserts the sig before the text you are replying to that will also be stripped in the reply.
Usenet netiquette state that a sig should be no more than four lines. In this group the only complaints you are apt to see are for posting binary files like pics or posting in html.

The "-- " must be on a line by itself. Close though -). Hmm, it may be that WebTV's editor doesn't allow this or that a setting in the editor must be changed so that the line wrap isn't changed when you send. Outlook Express breaks the sig delimiter.

Canada Hi BJ, We're just plugging along. Linda is working on getting her credential while teaching algebra. She doesn't have much time (or energy) for other activities. I get out to Greek folkdance once a week. Linda joins me about once a month. Linda's health is staying more or less static. We would both like to see some improvement but tend not to complain when its not getting worse. The bothersome symptoms now are leg cramps and feet that don't like to carry any weight.
No, I don't post much, but i do keep up with the group daily. Glad to see you posting again. I'll try and send some of our warm weather up your direction. Please, don't send your cold this way.

BJ - 18 Mar 2005 15:33 GMT Hi Timothy, It sounds like you both manage to keep busy. I know you would like better health for Linda, but I guess we do have to settle sometimes. Gee, I would have piped up sooner, had I know you were out there reading daily. Please do send me some warm weather. It is cold with blowing snow today. No change any time soon. I promise not to send it your way. I could never do that to old friends. BJ-Sk. Canada

Diane Fblooms - 17 Mar 2005 06:18 GMT Just in case someone else would be interested in one of my hobbies I will mention it.
I join a lot of contests and I win many of them. I never won anything very big yet though. Most of my wins I gave away but I just won something I think I will get use of, the aqua weight that I mentioned. I haven't won anything worth over $250.00 yet. That big item was a framed Kinkade print.
I got one girl started on this awhile ago in another group and she recently won a Ipod, wow, that is a big win.

I don't think that forum is right unless it accesses usenet (NNTP) servers. Normally you will set up a news client to read this group. There are many, Outlook Express (OE) is the most commonly used and one of the poorest in quality and security. Others are Thunderbird, Xnews, and the one i am using 40tude Dialog. These are all free and easy to find with an Internet search. Again if you have any questions e-mail me (remember to include [ASL] in the subject).

Diane, I think what he meant is dash dash then a 'line space and then the words to your sig in the next line space.... so it would look like this:
-- "Visit my site about scriptures, medical alert cards/tags and freebies http://www.geocities.com/fblooms/menugeo.html"
Hope this helps, and btw, my sig is below as it is inserted by OE on demand.

BJ - 16 Mar 2005 16:18 GMT Hi Diane, I said I would get back to you too, but I never did. Here I am now, to tell you a bit about myself. I was a dog breeder for years. I travelled to dog shows and was involved in both conformation and obedience trials. I trained and showed all of my dogs myself. Unfortunately, health problems forced me to retire. I still had three dogs at that time, but since then two of my younger girls died of cancer. I only have one Golden Retriever left. She turned 16 yesterday. Dogs were my passion and I am still floundering in an effort to fill the gap. I can't seem to find a hobby that holds my interest. Perhaps this thread will give me some ideas. I do like to walk. I live in the country, so there is lots of wildlife to see when I am out. It has been so cold that I have been pretty much housebound. I am waiting anxiously for spring. It comes late here, but it will come. BJ-Sk. Canada
> Timothy is this what you mean? > > "-- Visit my site about scriptures, medical alert cards/tags and > freebies http://www.geocities.com/fblooms/menugeo.html" Diane Fblooms - 16 Mar 2005 17:57 GMT Thanks so much for your info. I printed it out because I want to start getting to know people and my memory is bad. I am going to print off info about other here too and keep them in a notebook to read now and than.
I hope this thread helps you, my heart did a little leap when you said that, I love to inspire others and going out to the art ledge and Mac club I think will inspire me. I never had a passion of any kind like your breeding of dog, I think I would of loved that but I started showing signs I was not well around age 7 or 8. It is just a guess but that is when I was told I was allergic to the sun, or course it probably was when my Lupus started. I was surfing last night, I looked up Gastroparesis medications because the two I'm trying right now are not kicked in to work yet or I will need to try something else. Well one site said what the causes of GP could be and it listed Lupus. It is the first time I see that. I had the symptoms of GP that young as well.
What I wanted to tell you is I never had the chance to find my passion but it is now of all times now that I don't have to work that I'm exploring what I might enjoy. Better late than never, I'll be 50 in Aug.
There are many kinds of art ledges you might be able to join. Near me, one does only modern art, the one I go to does more paining and drawing. Another one does just crafts; if I had the energy I'd like to add that one on too.
I am a member of a gem and mineral club but that isn't working out with my bad memory since I am not really learning names of rocks and I can't drive much at all so I can't get to many of the outings. I just don't feel it fits me much. The art ledge seems a better fit. The Mac club will be great for me as well I think. These I just started so I feel I'm starting anew again.
I really had a hard time finding these clubs since our town has only a few and not all have websites or advertise well. The gem club is almost next to my house and I didn't know it for years. I took a few art classes, teacher couldn't explain himself out of a paperbag though, I didn't get much out of that, but my teacher is now the president of the art ledge and that's how I found out about it. I got interested in the Mac and went to the Apple website, I had been looking around the site for a few months when I saw they had information on local clubs that could be found by entering ones zip code. That's how I found that club.
If you go to your favorite search and type in your town and the word club or similar word(s) you will find clubs and such in your area. There just isn't much in my area I'm interested in since I don't collect fish, go fishing, have a need for a mother's club, or what to learn how to do public speaking. I'm not well enough to join a town club that helps the town with fund raisring or clean up outings and such either.
The senior center have has free classes for seniors, painting classes and computer classes are a few of them. They have some bus trips that aren't too expensive and the one here offers free movies once a week.

herbwormwood - 18 Mar 2005 11:58 GMT Hi, I think it was you asked about growing mustard seeds and sprouts, so here is what I do for the mustard seeds. I get the seeds from the asian grocers or the health food shop, usually in at least 250 gramme bags. They are cheap. They are used in cooking too you see. People grind them up to make mustard powder etc. Then I get a used margarine container and line it with with either kitchen roll or blotting paper, then I wet the paper and add the seeds so they are thickly coating the paper. I set aside for about 12 hours or so and then add a tiny amount of water. I add a little water every day until they have formed a thick mat. Then it is ok to rinse them under running water. They can take it at this stage, before this stage you will lose them. Keep watering them daily until they are about level with the top of the margarine carton and nice and dark green, usually about a week for this depending on conditions. Then you can snip them off with scissors and add to sanwiches, soups, or just about any savory dish. If anyone is keen on doing this but cannot obtain seeds, some web sites will sell them online but they will cost more this way. Maybe someone could post you some. I am in UK so postage would be too much.

For some reason being ill made me determined as well as rebellious! I went to university, worked in a hospital for dementia patients and in research. I am 38 now and have settled down a bit, due to becoming somewhat disabled. Since falling down some stairs at my place of work a few years back and having very bad balance problems, I have developed a phobia of heights and get extremely nervous when doing things like going down an escalator, getting on and off a train where there is a gap between the platform and train, walking over bridges, etc. I had driving lessons but I stopped because I was too nervous. Now I prefer to walk or get buses. I live in a compact city and there are buses to everywhere I need. I no longer do paid work but I keep busy and am never bored. I am lucky to have a nice man friend who helps me with some shopping trips in car and other things I can't do like putting up curtains.
Diane Fblooms - 18 Mar 2005 21:41 GMT I printed that out, it also has some info on you so that's good for me to reread. I'm starting a file for this group and this will go in my file. Thanks for both.

If you are keen on your new Mac there are lots of ways to store handy bits of information without printing all of them out and getting messy clutter of papers everywhere. Let me know what operating system (see (about this Mac) in the apple menu) you are using and I will give you some tips on how you can turn your Mac into a "prosthetic memory"!
Diane Fblooms - 21 Mar 2005 18:55 GMT I'm on a WebTV right now with my printer hooked up to it. I am wondering if I got a Mac if it would be any different than the constant maintenance and problems solving I've had to do to this old Windows PC. My health limits my ability to deal with constant problem solving on an ongoing basis. So I'm kind of lost as to what is the best thing for me to do right now. I just started to go to Mac club meetings so I can feel it out if it is right for me.

I got "In My Father's House" by Corrie ten Boom out of the library. I read a lot of books that way and also buy online, mostly at Alibris. I did buy some books at the prayer advance I was at in Virginia (I live in New Jersey). They were "My Utmost For His Highest", "Great Nights In The Bible" by Clarence E. Macartney, "The Holy War" by John Bunyan (author of "The Pilgrim's Progress"), and "The Christian's Secret of a Happy Life" by Hannah Whitall Smith.
WebTV is a whole different animal. I use mine to post in WebTV only groups where I don't have to think about "turning off" my signature. Here's the links I have in my WebTV signature (with images you click on): Memory Stirring Music: http://www.nellybly.com/ For God So Loves: http://nellybly.com/godloves

Diane Fblooms - 22 Mar 2005 17:13 GMT What a nice site, I can't believe the song page all the work you put into that, I'm very impressed. I love the page you posted below the song page, did you write that yourself, it is very good. The wording is done better than I've seen with simular messages.
I was told I could use my sig here, maybe you might do so too, I was just told that it had to be put on a special way.

Diane Fblooms - 22 Mar 2005 17:18 GMT Wish I could still read like that, I don't have the energy very much. On your list of books I saw one I have here that I never finished, the Pilgram's Progress, sure good but not easy reading.

I just started to go to Mac club meetings so I can > feel it out if it is right for me. Oh I see. That is very sensible of you. I have been using macs for a long time now. They are easy to use. The new ones are nice but you can usually get secondhand ones quite cheap. What are the people like at Mac club meetings? Are they helpful? A few things I get my Mac to do other than internet things is I have some free software called Tea Timer. I set up up to remind me when to go into the kitchen to see to things I have put on the stove. It stops me burning my dinner! I also have ICal which Is a calendar you can add your own events to. I use it to remind me when things need doing, like birthdays and hospital trips. You can also download other peoples calendars, free of charge. I have a moon calendar which tells me all the phases of the moon. Also one for UK public holidays, and some other holiday calendars. I also do wordprocessing on it. It is very handy for designing greetings cards. I file stuff I have written in case I need to check when I have sent various letters and what I have said. It is much easier than filing paper copies.
Diane Fblooms - 24 Mar 2005 01:39 GMT Hopefully, I will get to the point I know as much as you do about a Mac probably by getting a used one like you did. I'm thinking at one of the meetings I'll ask the best way I might locate one. I only went to one Mac meeting so far, the people seem pretty nice, they sure seem in love with their Mac's. The have raffles at each meeting too for $75,00 prizes going down to things like Mac tote bags, T-shirts and caps.
They are taking a field trip to view the stars at their next meeting and I think I have a ride to that. The club info for each location is on the Apple website.
I like the way you remind yourself to do things. I use to burn my food and pots alot until they put new stoves in these apartments that have nice timers on them. I'll probably wear out the timer way before the stove goes the way I use it for everything.
This might seem strange but being as fatigued as I am I have learned sometimes to make a game of thngs. I set the timer for 30 minutes, 15 if I'm really figured, and than I see how much cleaning I can get done in that time. That way it doesn't seem so overwhelming to me. There is a website that is called Flylady that teaches tips like this, thats where I got the idea. I wasn't able to really stick to the Flylady way much because they'd send an e-mail each day with things to do on it but that one thing has helped me. There is a Fibro Flylady too which would be better for us. When I was trying to do it I only knew about the Flylady. I never tried the Fibro one but I have the link on my health page.

Shelagh - 17 Mar 2005 20:59 GMT BJ, seeing as how you do like to walk, when the weather permits lol, and you love wildlife (as well you are a dog lover) have you ever considered photography as a hobby? Once you have the camera, digital preferably cause then you can do so much with the pics and a computer, it is not an expensive hobby; just your time and the developing, which you can also learn; there are courses offered at most colleges for example; like night school courses and/or weekends... just a thought for you, fwiw! hugs from Shelagh "BJ" wrote in message

Canada Beverley - 14 Mar 2005 20:38 GMT Less than 1% of all the people who are color blind are totally color blind - meaning they see only shades of gray. About 1 in 20 people suffer some sort of color blindness and only about 1 in 100 are females. It's mostly a guy thing. (G'daughter doing her science fair project this year on color blindness.)
My husband stopped the car one winter and asked what they were growing in the field. It was dusk and he thought the field was totally green - I promise you it was pure dead faded wheat stalks! He has a terrible time with certain games that require color and is known for picking up the wrong piece on the game board. Maybe that is why we never play many board games in this house? He often has to use a volt meter when working with cables or wiring because he can't tell the wire colors. He can match colors perfectly but he can't tell you what colors they are. He hates certain greens yet he can't pass the color test for green - he apparently has NO green color receptors- but other greens he likes. (Go figure?) I think he learned to compensate for his color blindness without being aware of what he did. Whatever it is that he sees it is not what we see.
As for the tin ceiling - well, a real tin or copper ceiling is way too expensive for our pockets. We even looked at making the presses for the metal and buying sheet metal. Hubby is real handy at making stuff. (He was originally in a trade school to become a machinist - that was before the draft and stint in Vietnam.) So we started looking at alternatives. Well, we found something that was not expensive and hopefully easy to install. I have to paint it first and then probably touch it up once it is installed. It comes in 1 foot square (30cm?) blocks. I'm going to paint it so it looks like copper that has begun to turn turquoise. I'm using the leftover green paints from the bathroom and will buy another small can of turquoise blue paint along with lots of spray cans of metallic copper and metallic hammered copper spray paint. When I'm done it should look like the real thing and very old.
Shelagh and I seem to always trade house stories. We are at opposite ends of the continent yet our house stories are so similar. LOL She's got the better view!
We've not suppose to post attachments out here so I won't post my photos here. If you email me I will send you my photos. If I can ever manage to get my new camera doing what I want it to do..... maybe I'll have photos to share. Bev

Yup. And red-green confusion is the most common. And more men drive than women.
So if you were designing traffic lights, what colors would you make them?

Shelagh - 15 Mar 2005 20:24 GMT Go figure! cause weirdly/oddly enough my husband is the same with greens and blues; he is definitely 'color challenged' lol; he can NOT differentiate between them and so we always go together to color match anything that is really important to us!

Beverley - 14 Mar 2005 15:40 GMT Fence is on hold. We have maybe another 7 sections to do. I'd like to get them done and then get a dog. Sometimes I think my hubby senses my wanting a dog when the fence is completed so other things keep getting put first. LOL
Really we had to do some work to the front porch and will go back to that soon - depending on weather. Old houses just keep getting older and require more work. But the porch is obvious and it has to be done! (Or we'll have the Historic Society all over us!)
I don't want to think about the County Fair at the moment but I have paperwork in front of me that I need to complete and send into the fair office. The fair is in the fall but the work is year round.
School is a big question. I took a mid-term test and then we had Spring Break. But when school started up again my professor had a family emergency and so he canceled classes last week. I don't think I did well on the mid-term test. :-( I really have had problems with his tests. I can learn the grammar rules but applying them is a different ballpark. It's as if they are two different things in my brain and they don't intersect! Give me a simple sentence and I can pick out all the words and tell you what they are, I can diagram the sentence, but if he gives a complicated sentence I can't find the direct object to save my soul! This next half of the classes should be just on writing so I figure I'll do fairly well writing. The bad thing is I know I can write - what I need is more of the grammar and punctuation rules.
I don't do the gardens anymore except for lecturing on them. I loved what I did but it fried my brains being outside like that. I know now it was because of the lupus. I don't have a whole lot of trouble with the sun. I stay covered and in the shade but it does take it's toll on me. I get very tired from it. I'm still not sure if it is the heat or the sun that causes my problems - I think it's the heat more than the sun but around here they go hand in hand.
My own gardens need lots of work as I haven't been very good about keeping them up these last few years - mainly because I was working. This year I won't have that excuse so I'll have to go out and work in them. They need attention badly!!!
I have grape hyacinths, daffodils, and dandelions (LOL how can you not love those bright golden soft blooms?) blooming, and the Lenten roses are still producing flowers. So spring is almost here. Right now we have temps yo-yoing up and down. One day it is 70 F (20C) degrees and the next day it doesn't climb above freezing. We've had thunderstorms and snow falling - that's really weird! But this corner of Virginia is known for it's insane weather. Bev
