Just to let you cold weather peeps know that,
here in 'beautiful BC'  we now have
our daffodils and other bulbs in flower as well as cherry blossoms
all out in full making such a beautiful display!!
Spring is here about 3 weeks early, and I love it;
temps are very mild and sunny days so pretty;
time to screen up and put on my hat and get out for more walking!
So many lovely gardens all along my route to the beach.
I pray that a late frost doesn't hit and kill all the early buds!
My rhododendron trees are loaded this year, they always present with a
beautiful display in shades of pink in the front yard entry.
I hope some of you too will see an early onset of this kind of weather!
hugs,

You are way ahead of us! Cherry blossoms already? I think I'm getting spring
fever.
I love rhodies. Their big blooms are so beautiful - much nicer than their
little cousins, azaleas. Poor BJ is still up there freezing her butt off
probably still buried under snow.

And our cherry blossoms and the delicate plums and red quinces came into
bloom in late February.  It is one of my favorite "mini-seasons" of the
year: when the oaks and the vineyards are bare and dark, and the only color
is that of the tree blossoms....  Just another reason to love Northern
California.

All of the Bradford Pears are in full bloom and the Rhododendron trees
too...The daffodils and Forsythe bushes too...We are suppose to get close to
freezing this week, but hopefully it won't hurt the flowers...
My Hydrangea bush is getting leaves on it...And my Monkey tree is getting
fuzzy...
I can't wait for spring...
Hugs Cindy

Still too cold here in the Northeast.  I do have flowers up though with
buds on them.  The crocuses are up and in full bloom.

We have a heavy snow cover. The below freezing temps are worsened by the
bitter wind. We can't even grow rhododendrons or hydrangeas here. They are
not hardy enough to survive our winters. So, as you can see, I have nothing
to contribute to this thread. lol.

Well, how are the evergreens doing?

Hi Mary,
The evergreens have taken a terrible beating this year. The deer are having
trouble finding something to eat, so they decided that our trees would be an
easy target. They have stripped the trees up as far as they can reach. I
don't know if there is enough green left on the trees for survival. This has
occurred several years in a row. All in all, it looks very bleak out there.
How are you doing, my dear? We have all been so quiet around here this
winter. Nobody seems to want to chat it up on the ng.

I had to join this thread cause our biggest problem here on the island are
the deer! They love all the plants and veggies and flowers in the gardens
and they actually jump fences and sundeck rails to help themselves! Not a
bit shy or scared of humans or cars; all so very tame and the does bring
their fawns around this time to show them where the getting is good!
We had finally, after 3 summers, learned what they prefer and what they
don't but then they go and change their minds and we find the shrub that
they didn't eat the year before is in their diet this year!!
Sorry to hear about your evergreens BJ! I love trees and we have lots with
oaks, pine, cedar and fir in our yard.... as well as 2 arbutus which are
really pretty.
Hope your get some mild temps soon; I can't imagine living in such a harsh
climate as you do! It has to be difficult to even get out to your car to go
shopping!
Wishing you good weather and a warm front to melt your snow away!

Hi BJ :)))

You and I could send each other a bouquet of snowballs and I do not mean the
bush.
We still have over two feet .

Not a sign of birds here Bruce. Good thing. I would have to knit tiny little
socks to keep their feet warm. Now there's a hobby for me!

That made me laugh, it wouldn't take much yarn and you would keep busy
forever.

I hope you find your hobby or interest this spring or summer.  It takes
time.

Try to get a mental picture of the size of the knitting needles. Yes, that
hobby could be a bit of a challenge.
