The kids went to school this morning.... I didn't sleep last night so I went
to sleep around 9am.
At the 3:30pm the phone is ringing, my kids are at school waiting for me.
My 7yo got out at 2:20pm and my 9yo at 3:05pm.
Fortunately, everyone knows me there since I used to teach life science part
time.... but still!
I suck!  I can't believe I didn't wake up.
DH is usually home at 2:30pm but had crt training today and won't be home
until after 5pm.  Sigh

Sweetheart you are being *way* too hard on yourself for this event.  My
daughter could tell you all the stories about how I would be late to pick
her up (never mind the gazillion times I had to go hunt her down in the
school halls).

My mom forgot to pick me up on many occasions - and she wasn't sick, she
just forgot. :)  In fairness to this wonderful human being, she had two
20-something sons always into something and another teen daughter even more
difficult than my brothers.  Mom's have a lot to balance and they sometimes
mess up, our kids are not scarred for life and you are not a horrible
mother.

Lecture over.  :P

hugs,

Oh, that is funny, I don't feel so bad. My major goof up picking up my child
from school - let's put it this way when I realized she was not home and
remembered I was supposed to get her I found her on the front steps of a
locked school. She had been sitting there for almost an hour. Can you
imagine that happening these days? Somebody would be suing the school for
child endangerment. No one called, they just put her on the steps and locked
the doors. Life happens. Sometimes we just goof. Hopefully, the kids will
grow up realizing that parents are not gods and we all make mistakes.
Sometimes we just oversleep! You probably needed the rest.

I have done that too and you feel like the worst mom in the world and you
beat yourself up and you feel like you let your kids down. The worst that
happened was that the kids were bored stiff waiting and if that is all then
you are doing pretty good. My 9 year old had to wait 30 minutes for me last
week because I was stuck at my RD office 30 minutes away. This was not the
first time my older two had to wait on me one time for a hour cause I feel
asleep during a flare and couldnt wake up. Please dont feel bad ok it
happens to all of us.

I would cut yourself some slack Nicole! None of our parents were perfect and
we can't expect ourselves to be perfect! It is completely understandable
what happened. I know it is hard to learn to give yourself grace -- but I
think it is so important to learn. I hope you get some rest!
