What do you folks use for the rash on your
face?
Does anyone's rash get kind of flaky?
Thank you, everyone.

I don't use anything for the rash.
My rash also doesn't get flaky.  Other parts of my face does tho.

Hello Penny
I get lots of rashes on my body, besides my face.

I go to a dermatologist and he prescribes betamethazone cream for me.  You
have to have a script for it.  Higher potency steriod cream  It tones the
sores down and takes the pain down too.

Did a dermy see you?  I think that is a good question and you absolutely
need to see one for sure on any rash like that.  It maybe something else or
infection too.

good luck

I don't have the rash on my face, but rashes elsewhere.  My doc prescribed a
creme called Lotrisone, which is hydrocortisone and an antifungal together.
I have found that very helpful.  My brother also has lupus, and he has bad
facial rashes.  He gets quite a bit of help from Nizoral, another
antifungal.

I am curious as to how the application of sunscreens effects you lupies with
facial rashes.  Does sunscreen make the rashes burn, or exacerbate them?

Penny,
To cut down the flakiness I apply either Eucerin or Aquaphor
on top of the steroid cream which was prescribed by my rheumatologist.
Also the coppertone sunscreen I use has a moisturizer in it and it
seems to help also.

Mair,
I use sunscreen on my facial rash, and it doesn't seem to
bother me at all.

To me Eucerin feels greasy as a hand cream. Aquaphor was given to my husband
during his radiation therapy. My sister was given Aquaphor by her doctor
when he removed a "spot" from her face. I've found it very soothing on
scrapes, scratches or dry spots.

I have both atopic dermatis on my face AND rosacea.  And ... ecsema too
which is little dots like.
Mayo made me a special batch to put on my face which contain hydrocotison
and 3 other ingredients.  Can not remember.
Since then, I have found it cheaper to use elavil for the ecsema and the 1%
over the counter hydrocortisone.
It just comes and goes and flares with or without Lupus.  Seems to be all
thrown together.
Hugs and Howdy!
Always,
