OK - the condensed version is that my brother and his four kids (ages
14-9)are coming to stay with us until he can find a job - (he just retired
from USAF) and also my two oldest grandkids (12 & 11) coming for the
summer - I am prepared to lay things on the table with my lifestyle and the
rules they will just have to get used to - - so I have found several things
in print for my brother to read - but how to get all these kids to
understand may be easier!
we will have air mattresses all over - and will return to the reason I named
myself Chaos Hill!
I will manage and things will work out - - but I could use all the good
thoughts that you guys can send!!!

Leslie,
Consider it done! Just try and relax and enjoy the family all camping out
at your place! It could be fun.
Hugs,
Sherry

Hi Leslie!
Will send prayers via overnight express mail, k? But Sherry's so right;
it will be a time that will always be remembered by all & when his kids
get a little older, you'll cherish them. Trust me! I never see my
nieces anymore, but they have memories & so do I.
Personally, I wouldn't worry about getting the kids to understand my
illness. I would concentrate on making my brother understand my illness
& then tell him that I'm counting on him to teach his children to
understand. That takes all the pressure off you girl! Then you get to
play Aunt Chaos & spoil them beyond belief. And your brother will work
overtime to get them out of your house! LOL!
Hugs,
Maggie

Oh Leslie!!!
Sounds like my house...Mathes Motel...
We have had one boarder for almost 3 years. Last summer my husbands brother
and wife moved in as he became disabled and so is she...Then His other
brother moved in as he lost his job and then a man that is sort of an
adopted son ran into some trouble moved in...I have all bedrooms the living
room and the garage full...But His brother and wife have finally gotten
housing and are in the process of moving right now...Mike gave the others 2
months to find a place and move out...Stating that my health was
suffering...Okay I will be the bad guy...
We also keep 3 of my grand children about 4 days a week while my daughter
works. Come on September. 2 of them will be in school, and I will only have
one of them..But then my daughter inlaw will either have a job or be back in
school by then..They have 3 children also...Hmmmm...
What is sad is that the grandchildren are the least of my worries....
Sorry that this is long...
Leslie,
Many good thoughts and prayers coming your way...
My neighbor had her sons family move in with them for a month while they
await closing on their new home...I told her this morning... This will just
be a drop in time and when it is all over, we will be glad we were able to
help....

I am looking forward to seeing them and helping them out as best we can, I
vividly recall when we were full time RV'ers and it looked like a war zone
in the mornings - bodies everywhere - - - seven once.....
Cindy - sorry, but I had to lol!!! We once said that we had a revolving door
at our house. Our kids took turns for a few years, one had two kids that we
raised for five+ years, (the two oldest - so yes we have a special bond) and
my brothers kids were here two years ago and we had a blast - after the
initial shock of it all!!!
Just give me strength! I wasn't expecting them for another week or two and
so am a bit thrown.

Sounds like time to make memories. I don't mean to sound cheesy but you know
you could have a blast and the kids will remember it forever.

exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All I want to do lately is make memories - for us and for all the kids....
remembering my own.....
cheezy? not to me! And how can I not love the children! That is an integral
part of who I am, adoring children....
Just praying that the body will not be too difficult.

Sounds like the opportunity for a wonderful time. Buy each one of the kids a
disposable camera. Tell them to take pictures while they are there. What a
memory builder!!!
Make some simple house rules, like if it rings answer it politely. If you
drop it pick it up. If it is dirty, wash it. Put it back where it came from.
The kids are not babies and should be responsible enough to handle certain
responsibilities. Make a kitchen chart. They each take turns washing dishes,
setting the table, making dessert, etc.
Declare one day laundry day, another clean upstairs, another clean
downstairs, and one for fun!!!! Parks, picnics, garden hose, it doesn't
matter!!!! Get the adults in on the job list. Each has to take a turn making
dinner. Then just close you eyes and hope for the best.
