Well, there's been a lot of talk in the Canadian election about
investing in health care... and one key problem I see is the way people
are admitted to hospital.

I've had specialists who work in hospital send me to emergency with a
letter.

But still, I end up waiting hours, going through the whole emergency
thing, seeing emergency nurses and doctors...that must be a waste of
money and resources when I'm admitted under that specialist anyhow?

I think I've gone that route about three times, and waited 5 or 6 hours
each time. That's not good for a very sick person, but it just seems
quite inefficient too...

Grace.
p.s. Also, they wheeled me away without my sneakers....I miss those
shoes  :)

Lost and found department?

I think you're right, we're never asked as to how savings can be made.
I think instead of the talking heads making all the decisions, they should
pick 10 or 12 people from each province (various areas), to collect and
list ways that the system is inefficient and costing more than it should,
and which things should be covered and what not, where savings can be made,

then send one representative of each Province with this informaton to a
roundtable where the talking heads (and doctors and hospital
administrators) listen, ask for clarification, take notes and then make
changes.  Of course, these "volunteers" would be paid for their trouble and
time (and travel and accommodation).

No luck...I say the drunken men ranting in emergency stole my shoes. :) No,

hospital...
