My doctor wrote me a note to keep me out of work for at least another month.
I'm wondering if I should file for disability. But I have no clue where to
begin. But I've heard different ones say that they didn't file when they got
sick and then they waited too long and then could not file. I don't know if
I'm out of work forever - I doubt it but maybe. The ER doc tied the BP
problems to the lupus. Just wondering who might know where to start in the
USA's system and when do I start?
Bev
Bev,
You can just call the Social Security office & they will send you the
forms. Mine was actually done, at least initially, over the phone. I
was too sick to go there & then they just mailed me the rest. Never
stepped foot in the place.
I didn't apply until I had been off work for over a year. They found me
to be disabled at the point in which I stopped working, even though I
tried to work again for two days, months after that date. The sooner
the better, but if you're not sure you wanna file, you shouldn't have to
worry too much. It's just that they may claim that your disability date
was later than when you actually stopped working. So, filing now, would
help to establish that date & keep more of your back-pay in your pocket.
Good luck, Bev...you have my addy if I can help.
Hugs,
Maggie

Thanks, Maggie, I'm not sure what I will do. I'd hate to lose the
opportunity but I'm not sure if I'm "disabled" at this point in time. I've
got to give this serious thought. I'll probably email you privately later
with more questions.

Hi Ya Maggie, I ran out of steam on "pinging" people.
Didn't mean to leave anyone out, hoped the ball would keep rolling.
Hugs to you,

Honey, I was so impressed with your pings, it didn't even dawn on me
that I was left out! LOL! I am just seeking more energy. I go up on
MTX & symptoms go away, but then the fatigue hits hard. CirclesRus...
Huggies,
