Hi BJ,

I just got out of the hospital yesterday.  I went to the local E.D.
last Friday to get a chest X-ray.  I thought I might have pneumonia
because I was coughing so much and felt so bad.  No pneumonia, but I
was rushed by ambulance to my transplant center because my creatinine
was 3.5, and my blood glucose was 480.  I am now diabetic.  Insulin 4
times a day.  I still don't think that I have fully gotten my head
around it.  My kidney recovered though, thank goodness, after
intensive  I.V. hydration in the hospital.  This is almost more than I
can handle.

Wes I am so sorry you have to undergo even more problems!
You obviously have a lot of courage and strength and I wish you a
ton more so you can comfortably handle this new challenge!
Sending you prayers and well wishes to get you back on top of
your game again! About time and enough trials and tribulations
you keep getting loaded down with!
Hugs to you and your family from me,
Shelagh

Yikes, Wes, no wonder we haven't heard from you for a while.
So glad your kidney recovered.
You seem to be going from crisis-crisis, it must be so discouraging....
Keep your chin up and hopefully things will smooth out for you.

What was the coughing connection? (I don't get it). -  dehydration?
Hugs Wes,
J

An upper respiratory virus, and thrush that started into the throat.

Oh Wes,
Here I was hoping that you weren't posting because you were busy getting
settled in your new place. I am so sorry to hear that you are faced with yet
another challenge. Now wonder you feel that enough is enough. I am glad that
your kidney is okay. It will take time to adjust to this new health problem.
You will though. You have always managed to handle anything that is thrown
you way. Take care.

I'm so sorry but so glad they caught it before you had greater damage done
to your system. I know being diabetic sucks but it's not really that hard.
The folks who get in trouble do so because they do not follow the diet. Some
are just lazy, others are stupid about what they eat but the folks who
really manage their diabetes do it very meticulously. They don't cheat or
push the envelope. It doesn't mean you can't have a bite of your daughter's
birthday cake - you just have to plan to do it. Although I'm sure a year
from now you'll find that cake sickeningly sweet and wonder how anyone could
eat it. If you need help with the diet just let me know. I'm not diabetic
but just about everyone else in my maternal family is diabetic.

I'm so sorry, Wesley.  I could hardly believe my eyes when I read your
post.  It'll take some time for it to sink in, but like Bev said; it's
not the end of anything really.  I have a ton of recipes I used for my
mom & also for my neighbor from time to time.  If you let me know your
favorite things, I'll look & see what I can come up with for you.  I
will tell you one thing that I found so interesting....I ate the same
things as my mom did & never missed the sugar or salt.  The market is so
set up for diabetics now.  I am amazed at the changes I've seen in just
the past two years alone.  It's just gonna take some time to get used
to.  I'll keep you in my prayers, Wes.  Thank God your kidney is okay!
Please keep us posted & let me know if you want some recipe's, k?

Hugs,
Maggie
