I have been browsing here off and on for several months when reading on the
diabetic support group is low. It's usually when I cannot sleep. NOT to
mean you all are not *worthy* reading, I just shrink from adding more
support groups.
My history is LONG and complicated, and *life* has affected my health, and I
feel is relevant for understanding *why, what, and who* I am today. This is
said so that you have the option to delete *my story* when you see it
coming. LOL
In *short*, I am a 62 y/o mom of three children, four granddaughters, and
one great-grandson *s*, with generic abnormalities (surgical correction
required and passed to all three kiddos), a childhood of lung problems
(think early asthma), rheumatic diseases, e.g. r. fever and nephritis, and
heart disease - endocarditis, everything escalating after marriage, and
exploding after my first childbirth, with rheumatoid arthritis hitting me
like a two ton truck suddenly one night.
I am on 20 mg Prednisone (only part of my morning cocktail), unable to
decrease until I am back on Methotrexate (*my* miracle drug), hopefully by
early June.
My heart goes out to each one here, and
(((((HUGS)))) to ALL!

Hi Billie,
Thank you for sharing your story. I am glad that your browsing brought you
to us. I hope you will add us to your list of support groups and join in the
discussions whenever you can. We all have so much to learn from each other.

This will be my first post here ---- but my ?interest? is a bit diff than
Billie's
in that I am not the one "suffering" (in any physical sense - to speak of)
but
someone for whom I care greatly does have Lupus AND "I haven't a clue"
as to what she is going through --- so my education begins NOW.
P.S. I have chosen this particular "placement" because she too is in Canada.

Hello NYer and welcome to alt.support.lupus
There's a number of us here who are from Canada.
I think you'll find reading the posts will be very informative as to what that
person might be going through.
If you find a topic hasn't been covered, check the FAQ
http://www.ghg.net/schwerpt/ASLFAQ/index.htm
or Andy's..
How about joint pain, fatigue, frequent checking of the bloodwork, often being
followed by many types of specialists (sometimes co-ordinated by one main
doctor). Tired of being told "you don't look sick". Or tired of being told "you
do look sick". Tired of being on steroid, if applicable (and the side
effects). Maybe you can fill us in on what the person is experiencing?
Best,
J

Thx for the response "J" and I will definitely be reading up on the previous
posts.
Most of what you outline are things she either has stated outright, or at
least
eluded to at one time or another --- especially the "pain". However, part of
the
difficulty is that she "doesn't want to burden me" or "BE a burden to me" so
specifics are hard to come by ! ? ! ?

Andy, I took a quick peek and ended up on a page where there's picture of a man
and a dog.
Is that you?

No - the man is Stewart MacFarlane, our Group's Patron and well-known
(hereabouts) on local radio. Not sure what his dog's name is.

Not doing so *hot* today, as we are having a weather change, plus my
diabetes is up today, too. I'd like to toss these autoimmune disease in the
Mississippi!
Just took meds, and hopefully might feel like *talking* later. Have my 14
y/o granddaughter here, so *all* of my time is not mine.
