Beverley - 20 Apr 2004 02:40 GMT Well, as of a little while ago, I now have new computer/reading glasses. No more bending my head backwards to see through the lowest lenses. Oh, wow, my keyboard is BIG!
I do hope this helps my neck muscles and maybe even the neuralgia - even if that is grasping for straws. But somehow I think holding my head in an odd position has not been helpful to my neuralgia situation.
But I am slightly dizzy with them as they are very powerful and whatever I do I cannot look around the room with them. I know this takes time. My regular glasses are Varilux but they cannot make them strong enough for my reading so now I own two pairs of Varilux glasses, one everyday/all day pair and one computer/reading pair. But oh, it is nice to read without stretching my arms way out. LOL Bev

Sounds like the type of glasses my friend CA tried. I think she gave up on them, but I forget now (what her last report was and/or she hasn't updated me recently on that).
Hope they work for you Bev, Hugs J
David - 20 Apr 2004 18:23 GMT Hi, For me, computer glasses have been a way of life since the late 70's. I measured the distance from my face to the screen, we called them terminals back then, and got the optometrist to make me a set set. Have not been without them since. For some reason I have had to change them a lot more recently. Maybe some of the meds affect my eyes.
David If we stop voting, will they go away?

Somebody always spoils the party and votes... J
Bruce On. - 21 Apr 2004 04:43 GMT Ok , J and David , what are pc glasses? Let me see the light eh! I have bi glasses and like J I am either moving the moitor or my head and end up getting nose prints on the moitor like a pup in the car. Bruce On. " looking through rose coloured glasses , hmmm , me thinks that was in the 60's with the beatles :))) {"]

Mair - 20 Apr 2004 20:03 GMT Bev, Have you not tried the progressive lenses, that have a "mid-range" that works for the computer screen?' I admit that I am behind on my Rx, but I just move the font size to "Larger" and I can see just fine. I sure can't see the normal print size, though. I need the kind of glasses you have, I think, for reading books. I get tired of holding my head back to use the bottom portion. Instead I will move my glasses up, (usually hold them with my finger) and that works pretty well.
Good luck to ya,
Mair

They don't work for me - I'd have to scan my head up and down, as my Varifocus glasses give me an in-focus band about an inch high at screen distance. I have to have separate screen glasses, otherwise I'd look like a Texan nodding donkey.
Anyway, think of piano-players with bad eyes. They need Varifocus the other way round, as the music in front of them is closer than the keys below them.

Mair - 21 Apr 2004 01:03 GMT My stepdad (rest his soul) had bifocal glasses with the close-up on the top! He did a lot of maintenance and construction work, which involved hammering nails into ceilings, etc. You just need to get what works for you, ay?
Mary

Beverley - 21 Apr 2004 02:20 GMT I never thought about needing them "upside down". I guess that is why it is so important to make sure the doc knows what you need and why. Bev

Beverley - 21 Apr 2004 02:17 GMT These are progressive lenses. Both pairs. I have 72 focal points in my everyday glasses. Problem is they can't cram more than that into my glasses and my reading glasses are now very strong. So two pairs of glasses. One pair for all close up work but I do have every range within 18 inches to 8 inches of my face. I can now read the darn phone book. I think Varilux started it and everybody else has copied them. Bev

Ignorance is bliss huh?
