Hi, y'all.
Lurker coming out here. I've read about mouth "sores" in lupus but
never seen a description or picture of what they look like. I'm doing
a cursory Google search but not coming up with what I want. Those of
you who have had lupus-related mouth sores, would you tell me what to
look for, so I might be able to figure out if what I have right now is
a mouth sore?
I can't remember the last time I had anything like a cold or canker
sore (what's the difference, anyway?). Now I'm having trouble talking
and eating because the left edge of my tongue is swollen and sore.
Initially, there appeared to be something white in that area, but now
it's all just reddish and too big to fit nicely inside my molars. My
speech is slurred to the point that I sound a mite tipsy. Great for
teaching English to internationals....
Anybody?

Mine come as blisters which start on the hard palate. These are large
blisters that rapidly break, leaving the skin to peel off the entire roof of
my mouth. Sometimes it is painful, but usually it is painless. It comes on
in seconds when I go inside the grocery store. I must be sensitive to the
flourescent lighting they have in there. Though it is usually not painful,
I take note of it, and think "okay, body being attacked by evil critters"
and do what I can to change the situation. I usually have sunscreen on any
time I go out, but sometimes I forget!
good luck, and health to you,
Mair

Sounds like thrush - Candida infection. Go see the doctor - there are
treatments.
