I went in Monday afternoon for more acupuncture. I left feeling about the
same. Nothing new about that, it seems to take a while before the effect
kicks in. But Monday night I had the worst night I'd had in over a week. I
kept waking up with extreme facial pain (neuralgia). It was bad. But there
was a new spot involved. What the heck was going on? So Tuesday morning I
called and said "help!" and the doc said come in. He did some more
acupuncture (slightly different areas) and within a few hours I felt better.
Much less pain, much less often. I go again tomorrow evening when I get off
from work. He's arranging his schedule to meet mine - he's staying late to
see me.
Today I feel pretty good. I've had a few triggers of pain but each lasting
only a second or two and maybe 3 today that have lasted as much as 10
seconds. And the good news is the pain is not as intense most of the time.
On a scale of 1-10 it might hit an 8. Oh, please let this be a sign that it
is going away. I need relief from this pain.
The really weird thing is the brain fog has lifted. I can't believe the
things that have popped into my head. I can't believe the things I can
remember without writing them down in 20 places - as if I could remember
long enough to write something down in 20 places. LOL It's as if someone
cleared the cobwebs in my head. Now I don't know what has caused that - if
it is from the acupuncture or just a coincidence.
Am I a faithful acupuncture follower - no. For whatever reason it seems to
work for me on this type of pain. In fact when I was lying there with all my
pins stuck in me I was thinking about my "chi" half laughing to myself that
maybe I needed someone to stir my chi. Then I was thinking about the ying
and the yang. (Hey, this is acupuncture why not think along these lines)
And I think the yang is the black portion. So I was thinking my yang was a
bit too much and my ying (good white - gosh I hope I have that straight)
must be terribly little and if this keeps up I won't have any ying left just
one big dark circle - and with that the lights went out!!!! Somehow the
nurse stuck her head in the door and thought I was very peaceful, relaxed
and probably 1/2 asleep so she turned the lights off. Never mind I was
figuring my ying just vanished! LOL
So maybe my ying is lacking and I guess my chi needs to be stirred. But at
least I'm getting relief and I don't care why it is happening. Tomorrow will
be my last treatment for a week or two. Then he will re-evaluate my
situation. Oh, please let this work!

Hi Bev,
I hope it works, hun. I'm like you; I don't really follow all the
alternative treatments, but I have no problem believing they work.
Asians are smart people! They wouldn't have stuck pins in themselves
all these years for the heck of it!
I think we'll have to start calling you a "Yingy Broad." LOL! Aww, Bev,
you'll get your ying back...your ying will kick yang's butt!
Hugs,
Yaggie : )

Bev -
Didn't I tell you to trust me??? There truly is a scientific basis for the
relief provided by acupuncture. The needles inserted at the specific
locations that they are inserted into, stimulate release of endorphins,
which in turn dull the pain.
You may not be sold yet, but you will be before it's over.
Talk to you later.
