Hi there everyone,

I am looking for some helpful advice and thought this was the place to
do it!

For about three years I have suffered extreme  fatigue/neurological
functions and are having real trouble getting any sort of diagnosis.

The symptoms are

   -    very low level of alertness / consciouness
   -    I sometimes describe it as feeling drunk
   -    confusion
   -    memory impariment and cognitive impairment
   -    impaired spatial awarness
   -    At a bad time of day I can been completely dibilitated by
these symptoms

Incedently the only 100% accurate description of my symptoms that I
have read from others relates to Lyme disease. Although they are
identical it is impossible for me to have Lyme. That has lead me to
believe that maybe I have someother Central Nervous System Involvment.

I am in a fog all the type but these symptoms can become signigicantly
worse often under certain circumstances:

       -    sometimes noticable worse after I eat - perhaps
especially high carbohydrate meals
       -    much much worse if I try and fast or skip a meal
       -    during after exercise.

I have been tested for many things including all the obvious diabetic
causes e.t.c I have no signs of depression or related ilness.

After many many blood tests the only thing of interest is Postivie
Antinuclear antibodies (ANA) 1 : 640 and evevated liver enzymes.

I guess my real question is

1 - is there any chance I could have CNS Lupus?

2. - What are the tests for Lupus and what symptoms would you expect
to see.

Your help is Much appreciated.

Ray.

Hi Ray,
An ANA at the level you had is certainly significant. The symptoms of lupus
are so many and varied, that it would be hard to cover them all. However, a
CBC should be done. Some other adnormalities might show up in that. I also
wondered if you have been tested for pernicious anemia. Left untreated, it
can lead to all sorts of neurological problems. I had a lot of confusion
before I was diagnosed. I don't know if I have been of much help. There are
others here who are very good at providing sources of information.
