Finally got into the dr.  I know, I know.  =)
She said it was most likely from the up and down weather and the high doses
of opioids I use.
Said if I was having kidney problems, most likely, I would have other signs
also, not just swelling.
My bp and pulse were fine, so she doubts anything with my hear, I'm also
young w/no previous heart probs.

Has anyone had swelling as their only sign of kidney problems?
Thx
Nicole

Did she do a blood or urine test?

No, I just saw my pain dr today.  I'm going to the ob/gyn tomorrow.... but
I'll call my primary dr and ask for a lab slip.  they know me.  LOL!

Hi Nicole,
I am glad that you finally went to have that problem checked. Some blood and
urine tests might rule out other things. It is a good idea to have them
done, just to be safe.

I agree with BJ .... I too think more testing would be in order.
I have had renal involvement with lupus and find it difficult to
accept that the opioids are at fault for the 'swelling',
independent of any other cause/s.
Swelling peripherally and around the facial area can be
symptomatic of renal involvement but usually the blood and urine
testing finalizes this serious dx.
Push for more investigation if you can and good luck to you!

That's what I needed to know.  I'm going to get a lab slip from my dr
monday.  I won't have any problem getting it.
Granted, the swelling could be from the opioids but no harm in making sure
the kidneys are ok.
Thx
