Canadian Association of Children's Librarians Announces 2004 Book Award
Shortlists

Ottawa, Ontario ~ The Canadian Association of Children's Librarians of
the Canadian Library Association is pleased to announce the nominees for
the 2004 Book of the Year for Children Award and the Amelia Frances
Howard-Gibbon Illustrator's Award.

Literary and graphic excellence in books for children and young adults
is encouraged and promoted through the Book Awards program of the
Canadian Library Association (CLA). These prestigious awards are
presented annually. Titles nominated for the 2004 awards are selected
from the 2003 publishing year in Canada.

The Young Adult Special Interest Group of CLA will release the
short-listed titles for the Young Adult Canadian Book Award in
mid-April.

Winners and Honour Books for all three awards will be announced in May.
The awards presentation will take place at the joint Annual Conference
of the Canadian Library Association/British Columbia Library Association
on June 19th, 2004 in Victoria, B.C.
