Okay, well not really MINE, as I didn't do anything but it's my hubby-- I'm
so proud of him! He works at NASA on X-43 and he was the guy on the B-52
who released the X-43B and rocket, and then he manned the experiment. I
was there when the flight happened, and boy- it sure was exciting!!! Now
my hubby will be in charge of X-43C, the next ship that is supposed to go
mach 10. Wow. I am just so proud of him!! I hope everyone knows what I'm
talking about- it was all over the news these past few days. haha.
Thanks for humoring me!

That's so cool, maybe my son will be on that next rocket....He is such a
techie and a total wiz kid at computers and science. I am trying to help get
him computer certifications before he is 16. He could build his own computer
at age 10 and load a Windows OS when he was 8 years old.
I told him with his qualifications he does not need to be flipping burgers
at 16 for money.
OK I want a trip to NASA

Well, Rhonda you'll have to come visit me. I'm right near Langley, NASA.
Just wondering if there isn't some sort of program for him or even
scholarship money.

There's so many programs for teens at Nasa. My daughter has applied for
an internship this summer, and there are tons of co-op programs for
college students. You need good grades, teacher recommends, etc... but
there are fewer applicants than you'd think. There are some internet
sites that you can search on, too. If you do a good job on an
internship, you even get a letter of recommendation for college written
by the head of the Center.

If you can get him to Dryden, my hubby would be glad to give him a tour!!!
Getting a private tour by an engineer is waaaay better than the visitor's
tour. Actually, after 9-11, I'm not sure if they even have those
anymore... But if you can get him there, you both have a tour :)

Oh cool, He would love that, He is being recommended to the computer people
at the High school as a tech guy. He is a tech guy at his school now. He is
a big star trek fan and he said he was going to be the first to invent the
warp engine. :o) I told him that If he puts his mind to it he can do
anything.
Yes, give me all the info on programs, tours, scholarships anything!!
I know he is going to go to the University of Oklahoma. Engineering

Howdy- tell your son that we agree with you- he can do anything he wants
to if he sets his mind to it. I always tell the kids that claim that
"they don't have a life" because they're doing so much that the life
they think they're giving up isn't real, and in return they're going to
get a real life. :)
Funny he's going to U of Ok, my girls are taking Latin via
correspondence through them...
Hubby says go to www.nasa.gov or search for NASA SHARP student program
on any search engine. He also says that www.dfrc.nasa.gov might help,
too.
I'll try to find more later- I'm tired...
Eldest daughter got a letter from Nasa today telling her she was one of
the top 24 applicants for this summer's Sharp student program, so she's
been scheduled for the oral interview... scary!!!!!
There's a lot of internet sites right now on the scram jet engine-
that's what powers the X-43 ships... Your son will be interested in
seeing how that works. Also tell him he'll have to get through the red
tape of "safety" regulations put into effect since the lawyers took
over... If he can make it through that barrier he'll be making history
as well as making other engineers lives easier.

That is wonderful!!! When I was a kid I ALWAYS wanted to be an astronaut. I
begged my parents to send me to space camp but it was way too expensive. I
used to spend hours with my telescope looking at the stars. But, I never
thought I was good enough at math to do it. Oh well, I still enjoy the
science. Tell your husband we are all very impressed!!!

I will tell him- he will be embarrassed that I shared this, but he's just
going to have to get used to it I guess.
Thanks to everyone for the support!
