Ok not the bathtime kind....Soap operas.
I was wondering if anyone ever saw One Live to Live sometime in the late
80's or 90's when a character named Megan died from complications of Lupus?
I remember that they had someone after the show like a spokes person talk
about Lupus.
I would like to know more info about this show if anyone can remember if
they did this with the Lupus foundation?

I found it, but there is not much info. It says that say dies of Kidney
complications It is the ABC site for daytime television. I just remember
watching it and crying. It was a touching story. I guess that's why when I
was diagnosed with Lupus I was scared.
Knowing what I know now about Lupus that can happen in real  life but it is
very far off.

I do not watch soaps, but I do remember it was a character named Megan on a
soap opera that had lupus.

I have been paying attention to lupus representation on TV and in films.
What I still see to this day is that they come in and tell the patient the
diagnosis, and then in the next seen we are all weeping over the coffin.
There was a movie with Mathew Modine and Christine Lahti (the name escapes
me) and there was also a character on "ER,"--the Bishop, who breathed his
last due to lupus.

I do wish tht TV and films would get a clue.  I think lupus and it's
treatment is much more like diabetes in most cases.  We are diagnosed, we
adapt, take good care of ourselves and take some medicines, and we can
expect to live full and productive lives.

But no one wants to see a chronic disease on TV--it's boring!

I am trying to think, does anybody know if TV shows have any diabetics being
shown?

Me either but speaking of TV, Mair
Do you know what O.C. stands for?
It's been bugging me since last year.
"The O.C." I don't watch the show but the opening song seems to draw me to watch
the beginning and I keep wondering what does O.C. mean?

Oh, a show?  I didn't realize that is what you were asking. I don't know of
a show called that... that might mean something else.  Out in the real world
O/C means obsessive-compulsive...

It's okay Mair,
I thought you might know because "California" is in the song

I thought it was supposed to be Ocean County. There is an Orange County so I
think they made it Ocean County (fictitious) so as not to step on anyone's
toes.

Orange County is what the web page says (below).
As the stomach turns...<g>
After I turned the computer off yesterday, I was thinking about it and wondering
"what was it again?"

(memory problems) <g>
Hugs Bev,
Do you know what's up with Maggie? Haven't seen or heard from since around the
16th of March

The O.C., otherwise known as Orange County, California, is an idyllic paradise -
a wealthy, harbor-front community where everything and everyone appears to be
perfect. But beneath the surface is a world of shifting loyalties and
identities, of kids living secret lives, hidden from their parents, and of
parents living secret lives, hidden from their children. Ryan Atwood, a troubled
teen from the wrong side of the tracks who is thrust into this world, will soon
learn that nothing is what it seems. He moves to the O.C. when Sandy Cohen, an
idealistic pro-bono public defender, invites him to stay in his guest house.
Sandy's wife, Kirsten, wealthy and beautiful, former homecoming queen, perfect
spouse, mother, and business woman, isn't happy that Ryan has moved in. And
she's worried about how it will affect their teenage son Seth, a soulful dreamer
ostracized by his peers. Making the whole situation more interesting is Marissa
Cooper, the heartbreakingly beautiful girl next door who seems to glide through
life effortlessly. That is, until the indiscretions of her wealthy father Jimmy,
threaten to break her world apart. The O.C. is a story of fathers and sons,
husbands and wives, and the coming of age of three young people. Ryan's arrival
is the catalyst for new alliances forged, old flames rekindled, and unlikely
friendships born.

Haven't heard from Maggie. Did she say anything about being away or getting
sick? I can't call her - she doesn't use the phone. I'll try to contact her
via email and see if I get a response.
Off to work I go!
